He's been coaching Vic country midfield so hopefully we get some inside word come draft time. God knows we need the help.

Right on!

Maybe he will be part of our next Premiership.
In some form or another.

Hope it's soon.

Blueman?
Does the young coach us? Is he named after a sovereign country?

Please make it true.

Went down to the club for the presser and caught up with Heath afterward...he only told the playing group this morning, will kind of follow the Nick Stevens' path and wants to get involved in underage coaching. Will help out Luke Webster at the Northern Blues for a little bit this year. We'll probably see him as an assistant to one of the under-18 TAC clubs next year. Will sit back and try and take it all in over the next week. He's in a bit of shock...when he says it's a degenerative ankle - he's not kidding...his ankle is rooted.

Club still deciding who to promote...probably won't be announced for a little while. Heath will get a send-off vs Adelaide this weekend. Great bloke...great career at Carlton. Thanks very much Collingwood...

Nice one

Thanks for sharing the insight

One of my favourites, loved the way he played and will definitely miss him.
An enduring memory I have of him is from the Richmond final last year when Waite centered the ball, there was a bit of a stuff up but Scotto booted truly on his left foot, the look on his face then left you in no doubt we were coming.

I agree with the sentiment he would of fit into any of our great teams and unlike many others fully deserves to be in our best 150 players ever.

Been a fantastic player for the club. During some dark times too.

Passionate and classy with exquisite skills on both sides.

Will always be grateful for his contribution to the club. Congrats on a great career Heath.

Always have soft spot for Scotland. Fine player who loves the club.
Wore a black arm band for my Nanna a few years back.

Hope he gets a flag at carlton as part of the coaching team or at another club if it has to be that way.

Degenerative injury...only took a decade & 200 odd games, but ADP, you were right

Time moves quickly in footy, was only 2 or 3 years ago he was in career best form as a defensive wingman IMO.

Great user of the ball on both sides & really stood out in some dark times. I remember seeing him kick a running goal against Freo in Perth in possibly his first game for us & thinking, this bloke's got some class.

Congrats on your contribution to Carlton, Heath.

One of the best dual foot long kicks to leading players I have ever seen. Sublime skills
Bled for the club, dropped in front of leading forwards, tough as nails and always flew the flag for his team mates. Can't ask for much more than that.

I remember our rd5 game when we beat port last year at etihad, a close mate organized passes for me and my old man to go into the rooms pre and post game. One of the great experiences of my football life, made even more special by Scooter who came over post game to have a chat as we congratulated him on his 250th? Even then he struggled to walk after a game.

So many great memories, the running goal in the final against west coast in 11 really got the juices flowing, as well as last years goal in the tigers final.

All the best for the future, Scooter #29

Great team man. Always willing to put his body on the line and lead by example. Was a reliable kick on both feet and dependable. Loved watching him play. All the best Scotty.

Whilst I wouldn't say Scotty was an Elite midfielder, I certainly do rate him as an A Grade player whom in his prime would be in every team's 22.

Apart from all the good attributes mentioned about him, the one thing I loved about him in his career at Carlton is his consistency. At his prime time, He rarely had a bad game. He was a top consistent performer every week and battled hard in the club's darkest days!!!

Thank you Scotty on such a great career!! :thanks: :thanks:

Oh, ...and Heath, make sure you spend plenty of time at home with the kids...teaching them to kick on both feet ;)

Can't say anything about Scotto the player that hasn't already been said here. Gutsy, consistent, classy and tough, an honest and tireless servant.

My 68 year old dad's favourite player by a long streak, and he's seen 'em all. Always makes time to hang with my dad when I've taken him to training, remembers him every time and (along with his second fave Simmo - they've got a little gang going the three of them have dubbed 'The A Team') always spends heaps of time having a chat.

My favourite memory of Scotto off the field was at the after party at the B&F when he knocked it off. My dad was convinced he'd get it, I wasn't so sure. When he won my dad (up here in QLD still) was ecstatic. I've had a few drunken hangs with Scotto over the years and when he saw me at the after party we jumped straight into chatting over some overpriced Crownies and he asked me to call my dad so they could talk coz he knew how stoked he'd be. They had a good chat for about 10 minutes. He even let me wear his JN medal. Top bloke. My dad's heartbroken today understandably but this time comes for every player...doesn't make it any less sad. Changing of the guard indeed. His is a big hole to fill.

Great memories, an honest bloke and tough as nails. Excellent parting speech to the young players, I really hope he gets into coaching more seriously and we benefit from his skills again off the field.

Thanks Scotto.

Great servant of the club. Never once hesitated in putting his body on the line when it was his turn to go.

You will be missed, Scotto. Respect.

Thanks Heath for the rugged dedication and intensity you brought to the game .
A solid skilled footballer with a beautiful kicking action.
Scotto gave the Baggers his finest . All the best in coaching and help us look after the young players coming through.
Ciao
