People are saying we should play the kids and tank. Our senior players are doing a good job for us already and we are not tanking or are we.
Tanking gets you no where. Look where we are now and look where Melbourne are. Building a winning culture is what is required. Mick will identify the passengers and hopefully will be replaced by someone who wants to wear the navy blue jumper more than anyone. We should base our selection on input and reward hard work. Let that player who doesn't care play in the VFL and at the end of the year, see you later.
Even if the player is not up to it, we should only play players who work hard on and off the field and are passionate about playing for our club. No gifting games because you are a lazy 21 year old. No gifting games because you are a talented lazy 26 year old. No gifting games because you are a lazy 30 year old senior player. Play people who are prepared to bleed for the jumper.
The season is screwed and it is all about building a winning team.
It's not about tanking in regards to draft picks... you're right, that gets you nowhere
It's about playing on merit... Cripps, Holman, Graham etc. instead of rushing back Carrazzo and Judd
Giving Menzel a full game... maybe at the expense of Garlett
It's preferring Dockerty in place of Scotland when Yaz comes back
We have enough senior players to be competitive and blood a few kids, especially now that finals are realistically over.
Remember last year when the forum experts drew a line through Buckley? Not good enough... will never make it. Northern Blues form isn't always indicative of a players value and kids can make huge strides by playing alongside more experienced team mates.
