Garlett at 80% is still better than Ellard, surely?

Ellard, Watson, Brock etc ... they're lack of quickness kills us. I didn't even notice ellard was playing y'day until the 4th qtr when Mick sent him up towards the wing to help out our tiring mids.

Wow ... what a kick to the face.

This is why we don't consistently play that rugged, bruising style of tackling footy. We don't have the depth to cover the procession line of injuries that style creates.

Bell & Curnow are a huge loss.

Crisps and Carrots better find some extra tank, they'll be needing it.

Just heard that on 3AW, brave effort by Bell to come back on and play well in that last quarter. Rotten luck for Curnow, he will be missed.

Bad luck boys.

You play hard you can get injured.

I think the good news is we probably have the kind of players to cover Bell and Curnow, although they were both very good. Judd hasn't played so it should not create too many problems.

I think they'll chance it with the kids over Brick at this point. Cachia or Graham or Robbo?

I think Carrots will take Curnow's tag role, Cripps will take Bell's role with a committee of himself and Cachia or Robbo?

Considering Bell has been so inconsistent and in and out of the lineup, the big loss here is Curnow. That's our best runner and biggest engine in the club gone. It's a 6-8 week injury then another month of running (which in itself is asking for a relapse) until we even begin to get Curnow back.

That's close to his season.

Where's Carrot's tank at? He looks good, but he's also not getting through the workrate he once used to.

I heard he copped a bake at 3/4 time & lifted in the last qtr

I'd be happy to see Robbo replace Bellf or the time being, Carazzo as the sole run with player, and someone more creative (Graham?) to replace Curnow

And Belly went hard at another tackle in the same way that he injured it in the 3rd. Damn, thought he really came back well this week.

Bell came off just as Judd went on. His hand was redacted

I thought Bell was one of our best, gutsy game.

Thought Bell played one of his best games last night, really put some physical pressure on the dogs players.

Reckon Curnow will be back before 6 weeks, fibula is the non-weight bearing bone and he has a great fitness base to start with.

McLean should be alright to come back against West Coast, they are a pretty slow team and rely on their inside mids Priddis and Selwood.

Very disappointing. Fantastic stuff from Bell and Curnow to keep going. Curnow tried at least.

Thought Bell played very well especially in the last.

Hopefully this will build further the unity started yesterday.

As cimm said, Judd has been missing so really have to cover Ed and Tom.

I was at the game and at the 3/4 time huddle and I can confirm both statements above are incorrect. Garlett certainly didn't kill it. Was fairly quiet until the last term, but got 6 or 7 touches in the last. Chased, tackled, committed to contests, lifted his work rate. His last quarter was great, but his first 3 weren't. And he didn't get a bake during the 3/4 time. Words to the effect of 'you've gotta lift here, this is when we need you' is probably as stern as it got. Having said all that, I'm pretty confident he'll come back in. His last quarter showed the commitment the match committee would've been looking for.

All 3 injuries are down to bad luck more then the style of play, as none we due to collisions with other players.
Judd - pushed while kicking
Bell - finger caught in Guernsey I think
Curnow - sustained injury when he hit the post, rather then the tackle he delivered

All can be put down to just bad luck rather than the style of play we were playing.

Cecil, how'd you rate Armfield's performance yesterday in the NB's? Getting miles in his legs but presenting with his normal endeavours?
The more I think about it, the more I can see Dennis coming in this week - maybe blanketing Gaff's role.
MM killed them last year with pace but that was an open gameplan @ Subi.
