Our recruiting is terrible. The one thing that really stood out in that article is that we only have 13 players under the age of 23 on our list, with the average being 19. It was really disappointing that none of our new recruits played on Sunday, its something that i have always loved watching early in the season.
When was our last RS nomination? That long ago i cant remember.

+1. Play the kids FFS. No future in sticking with the proven plodders and turnover merchants.

We only have about 3 of them.....

I'm all for playing the kids BUT the current group need 5-6 rounds to see if they are worth it. We have only had one game! If not, then it's time to get games into Graham, Cripps, Holman, Buckley etc.

Another isssue is there isn't many of them either.

Cheers. So we have gone 3 seasons without a nomination and in all honesty there was no one that we could say was unlucky to miss out.
This is not the start of the season we wanted, especially with so many out of contract players.

Who cares about out of contract players? Everyone sucks apparently so why would we keep them?

Damaging the brand right now by looking back is not what is needed.

Headline in the news with grab from Bruce: no chance of success the next 4 years and Bulldogs a much better list.

Governments create hysteria.. it means people lose their rights and move into the governments arms for safety..... so someone will be set up to create trouble.. and what do people do? They turn to the governement for safety... oldest trick in the book.
In our case... this doesnt affect Bruce and the Oligarchs.. in fact it means we need him to fix this!!!..we need him to fix our finances.. even if membership is down.... he shores up his position further... and creates a bigger sphere of influence because we need him to fix things....
His Oligarchical position becomes stronger... now i dunno if this was the purpose of his comments...but people will be saying "Youre so right bruce.. i hope you fix it"
But after 8 years he hasnt drawn a spotlight on the people who manufactured the problem.. the people who hired .. extended contracts and organised the processes of selection for all positions around the club???
Ive met Bruce ...
Bruce is a crazy Carlton man.. but it doesnt mean he does everything around a footy club correctly... hes generous and his a good bloke.
But personally i prefer we wipe the slate clean and start again... no influencing etc

could have been there last year.. all we needed to do is promise each player 100k to beat a lame swans.. went in without some of their good players.. and got injuries in the first quarter.
39 tackles

i dont think these guys wanna play finals....
the money carrot would work much better

..we don't know how, we have a dodgey chequered history as a club.. ..plainly put, if I didn't grow up a blues person, I wouldn't jump on board as an adult when I think of the off field history.. ..plenty of conflicted emotions towards our club, it's sentimentality that holds me fast..

For those that need a reminder, scroll back through the years:

http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/td-carlton-blues

Since 2004 (10 years ago, could reasonably expect one or two of those to be playing), our ND picks have been:

Russell
Hartlett
Blackwell
Bryan
Raso

Murphy*
Kennedy**
Bower
Edwards

Gibbs*
Hampson**
Grigg**
Austin**(?)
Benjamin
Anderson

Kreuzer*
Browne
Armfield*

Yarran*
Robinson*
O'Keefe
Tiller

Lucas*
Davies
Kerr

Watson*
McCarthy
Mitchell
McInnes*
Duigan

Bootsma*
Rowe*
Buckley*

* still playing
** playing elsewhere
Excludes Rookie promotions

33 ND picks in 8 years.
Clearly too reliant on rookie draft and trading.
12 players still playing for us, 4 playing elsewhere.

Only real quality remaining (for us or others) is Murphy, Kennedy, Gibbs, Kreuzer.....but Kennedy aside, the other 3 probably big under achievers for pick 1's. Possibly harsh on Murphy.

Have deliberately excluded the last 2 years to give them time.

Horrible. Just horrible.

Thats an indictment of the club and not just recruiting.
I find it amazing we are just putting recruiting under the microscope now.
Personally i think alot of those blokes still on the list will fail also.

But thats not my point .. my point is this..
In what area / sector are we leading the AFL?

If we blame recruiting alone we are falling for the two card trick again.

Bruce needs to look at all sectors of the club and not just recruitment.

The club is in a huge slide and as someone put it to me a week or so ago... "It was much better when we were shit... because when we were shit we had hope... hope that we would emerge strong again.... but we buggered it all up"....

We did!!!...
There are so many reasons why we did bugger it all up... ive highlighted most of them over the years...

We were not putting all the cornerstones down....

It really reminds me of Leeds United.

If there was a lower tier and no draft concessions we would be in the lower tier... We wouldnt know what to do.. wed be spining around the spin cycle of nowhere land.

We have no clue ... and yet people are only blaming the recruiters... recruiters for 8 years Bruce??? Really???? :screwy:

What safeguards did we have in place????
Where was our safety net???

How dare these people who commited that sin of turning my footy club into rubble that resembles a charred war site still be around and accept no responsibility themselves??

Absolutely no accountability for the numerous poor decisions and appointments that have wasted a whole lot of time and money over the last decade.
That's the real issue, not just recruiting.

The recruiters really should be made to stand afront of a Nuremberg type trial.
