Time for Micky to use that broom. He has been itching to use it and clean up rattens mess. Enough of the hbf types and more mids required.

I disagree that we need massive changes to the list. A strong key forward and certainly more depth in the midfield.

How do we get them if we don't make 'massive changes'? Our clubs is not getting any younger so no matter which way you look at it, our next 'good' side is going to look substantially different.

jim did u see the mark he missed tonite?? it went straight through his hands i think that more sums up his season this year for a boy his size i think he is pretty disappointing, we need a key back or forward either will work for us because it would release hendo to forward, need a couple of hard working and skilled mids and i reckon we will be getting closer to the pin

Quite clear who he is targeting with those comments.

Been a horrible year for the AFL. Two teams in Sydney but still no ground which measures up. Surface has been an issue for years, players should boycott due to injury risk.

Here's the reality. Every year in Sydney is a horrible year for the AFL, even when Sydney wins.
Sydney, reigning premiers and favourites playing against Carlton, one of the biggest crowd drawing teams in the comp.
37,400 turn up. They had more at Geelong last week.

Sydney is a League town and always will be. The AFL has poured endless quantities of money into Sydney and it will happen with GWS. It's like a big yacht. Sydney is a big hole in the country into which the AFL throws money for no return.
In addition, they have given Sydney money to attract more players so they will play finals and keep the Sydneysiders mildly interested.
My question is this. Why wasn't this game played at the SCG? It holds about 35,000 and has a great atmosphere. Answer. The surface is too small.
So we have a great venue with a small playing surface versus a huge venue with a dodgy surface and nobody in attendance.

Pick one.

Malthouse: "I thought Chris Yarran had a good night tonight."

Cue the "he's only keeping his price up" calls

Yep. To me, 2013 was always about Mick seeing what/who worked and didn't. Now that he's no longer hamstrung by poor list-management, poor player development, poor salary cap management and farcical contract situations from the previous group, it's what he does from this point on that will define his tenure at Carlton. The real work begins tomorrow.

Tell me they wouldn't have had it available if they'd known a year ago that there would probably be a final there.
But thanks.
And why did it have to be a night game anyway? Is the TV station running the comp?

Don't answer that.

Casboult has played some excellent games but unfortunately the difference between his best and worst is a long way. Feel he'll make a decent supporting forward one day wityh more experience when he sorts that but won't ever be the main spearhead.

As I said in another post i'd push hard for Jesse White.

i think i have blinked and missed that game..which one was it??

Richmond and first Essendon** games just for starters.

Jim, we won 3 games he played. One against GWS, Tigers (his best game) and Port when he was dragged in shame at half time and the game turned.

We are a man down with him out there. He needs to take 6 contested marks and kick 3 to break even. He is in all the wrong spots, missing all the big tackles and kicking all the big points.

At the press conference Malthouse has stated that our midfield is not physical and hard enough

He mentioned he needed 5 new midfielders

He mentioned 5 to 10 picks to get new players

He will not go the quick fix for MM

Swan Hughes and Rodgers should all accept responsibility for this situation and all resign.

No good looking at one player, one game, one incident. Tells you nothing. I said the difference between his best and worst is too far apart. As I said, when he has done well he's shown something for a young bloke. More consistency and he makes a handy back-up forward and ruck but never the spearhead. I know where his strengths and weaknesses lie. It's also why I asked about Jesse White. He's played good one's, shockers and not much in-between. Unlike most I look at the whole picture not just the last game and speak with my frustrations.

I thought he was poor. Like a majority of his teammates. But maybe that's just me.

Unfortunately we have too many players like that on our list.

Agree, the ground was an embarrassment for the AFL.

He has played what 8 games this season for what a total of prolly the same amount of marks? and i dont target 1 player there are a few who are questionable, players like robo he is adhd love his hardness but geez, armfield, curnow has a crack but skills are average, mclean not a fav of mine reckon down hill skier, mcinnes, bootsma both can have tremendous upsides but will they reach it dont think so

Dragged in shame??? He was our leading possession winner for 45 minutes against Port. Does show how bad we were travelling in the first half of that game. Go back through the game thread, it was mentiioned. He was subbed as we lacked run with Warnock, Kreuzer and Casboult out there. If you're going to discuss something, be factual, no biased.

Essendon* the first time was his best game by a mile when he was outstanding, at least get that right.

I'm not interested in how many games we've won with him there. There's 21 other players. He alone is not going to make the difference. Your point there is totally irrelevant. young bloke who's sometimes shown something as a tall. Just has crappy consistency.
