I dont believe the players set out to cheat, they followed the instructions of others. Rveryone above them is fair game as far as i am concerned but not the players.

Re read your initial 5th paragraph (first post) you weren't referring to the players you were referring to the club.

Following others is not a defence.

wouldn't it be funny if Maher gets booted off The Blueprint for his views on Essendon* and our esteemed president continues to remain in charge after his diabolical and cheerleading speech about Essendon* last night.

Personally, i believe Essendon** has done plenty wrong in this matter and should cop their fair whack but i have seen nothing to make me believe they intentionally went out to cheat where drugs are concerned. Their processes sucked and in their determination to take things as close to the edge as they could they crossed the line.

I won't call them drug cheats and from the start of this i have always hoped that their players weren't penalised for the stupidity of those who they entrusted to look out for their best interests. These are the ones who failed them and are the ones who should cop the penalties.

How dreadfully naive of you. And with regard to Maher...the point being made is much more than his Essendon* orgy with Tim Watson each morning. It's the condoning of doping in sport. Are Maher et al going to be consistent with regard to all doping in sport?

I wait with bated breath for one of the doping apologists when the next cycling, gymnastics, tennis or rugby athlete is busted for doping. Will they defend them? They ought to. Surely they'd be a walking contradiction if they didn't defend them...but it's not about the other journos...it's about Maher because Carlton employs him.

I hope Maher gets put on the spot tomorrow morning about where his heart lies. No doubt they won't allow any callers except for Essendon* lovers, so some sneakiness to their producers would be in order to get through.

The old "Carlton cheated in 95" thing usually works quite well.

Nothing more frustrating than knowing you need change but being powerless to do anything about it.

I have every intention of sitting down with Jay Allen and letting him know of my feelings and others feelings regarding this. Small matter in the greater scheme of things, but we should be increasing our digital presence in 2014. It's our 150th season.

Essendon* should be a mere shell of a club that they resemble now. I'd be amazed if they could afford to do 'The Hangar'. I'm not a big one for handing cash directly to McGuire Media either, but we should be getting back to the negotiating table with them if Essendon* pull their show. Do a one year deal. Be bold. Make some things happen. Get creative.

Like Andy Maher, the club is too stale. It needs strategic direction and a little artistic flair. Feels like it's doing the bare minimum across the board.

Maybe he is - maybe he doesn't think Essendon*** has done anything wrong

Either way, it reflects poorly on him, he's a douchebag

Interesting discussion, one thing i would like explained is how it reflects poorly upon him if he believes that

I'd suggest if he really believes that in spite of the evidence, then he is stupid. Either that or he goes along with what his conflicted radio mate thinks. Now, he can continue to embarrass himself publicly if he wants, but our club should not be paying him to do so.
We complain about the pathetic media understanding on this issue, so why support one of these idiots?

Good stuff and absolutely agree 100%. We need a big shake-up.

My comment was a holistic reflection of the club, and not just this one area. We need a new president and CEO, new blood in the coaching ranks, new everything. The club has that old persons home smell.

What has Maher been saying about Essendon* on The Blue Print? Might have to start watching again.

I haven't posted except all day because I have been too filthy and upset to say anything rational, but knowing that Andrew Maher said that has sent my blood to boiling point again.

I can't think of a good reason why a Carlton supporter would tweet that.
