Best case is he plays through the pain and has a few jabs in the heel. Worst case would probably be a couple of months. Squash pros see this injury a bit...never known any to have surgery for it....just rest it up. Biggest frustration is you lose that fitness base you've built up because only real cure is rest.

I had a bad case of Plantar Fasciitis years ago. Played out the season but could rarely do what i wanted to do on the pitch. Frustrating injury. A jab or nurofen make it feel better but when it wears off you cant walk for a few days.

When the season ended it got better in about 6 weeks.

Would have loved to have snapped the ligament but couldnt work out a way. Surgery is rarely used to treat the injury. I hope Patty has snapped his while playing like what happened to Mitch Hahn.

Tendon tear a blessing for Bulldog Mitch Hahn
Mark Stevens | July 15, 2008 12:00am

THE Western Bulldogs have confirmed a foot tendon injury was the source of Mitch Hahn's mysterious departure from the ground on Sunday. But nobody at Whitten Oval is concerned. In fact, it is cause for minor celebration.

Hahn had been dogged by soreness to the plantar fascia tendon under his foot for almost a month, but pressure was eased when it snapped in the opening minute against the Demons.

Although the forward was on crutches after the game, he will be fit to confront Geelong on Saturday.

And with the tendon completely torn away, the Dogs are now confident the pain will go away forever.

"We're getting a scan to prove it, but it looks like that's what's happened," Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade said last night.

"The doctors said it's the best-case scenario.

"He'll have a bit of swelling for a couple of days, but he will be right to play this week.

"He'll be better over the next few weeks because he's had this problem for three or four weeks."

Geelong's Brad Ottens benefited from a similar scenario on the training track.

Ottens partially tore the plantar fascia tendon during a VFL practice match in March, but snapped it fully to allow a comeback.

It is often better for the tendon to fully snap to accelerate the healing process, with St Kilda legend Robert Harvey famously jumping off his kitchen table to tear his.

Hahn kicked the first goal of the game in the opening minute, before heading for the bench.

He returned after quarter-time, and was limited, but with treatment this week the Dogs are confident the worst of Hahn's foot problems are behind him.

Will probably need updating tomorrow. Have disregarded heraldsun report.
Northern Blues play Box Hill at Visy park from 4.30pm tomorrow so I expect to update when the team comes out.

injury list has been updated to reflect players turning out for the Northern Blues today - which is most of the uninjured.

Interesting that Bell hasn't been getting a game?

Just can't make sense of this!
Tom was as impressive as the next bloke vs GWS & Sydney. Then, for what I thought was load balancing reasons, he was sub against freo. Came on late in that game and as expected didn't do much (game was dead by that stage!). Then he is missing against the crows and not named this week?!?!

I would've thought that with what he brings to the table he would need to be a part of our first choice midfield group. We got mauled repeatedly last season against teams with big-bodied midfielders and it is an area we need to improve on to make progress this year. McLean's resurgence has helped in this area but Bell adds another dimension as he is more imposing physically and brings a lot more in athletic attributes compared to Brock.

Strange decision and one I cannot fathom at this stage...

Bell dominant in the 2 qtrs I saw yesterday, but also got reported.
