Terrible effort.

Is it too hard to just "get it done".

I thought from our midfield slump would come some resilience. For the last few weeks i dared to dream but as it turns out we are still as flaky as ever.
A big pressure game brings a collapse. Our field kicking goes to crap, our goal kicking goes out the window and we generally shit ourselves and start playing around in circles.

Whoever does the coaching next year better bring a broom. That 22-30 under any coach in a pressure game will collapse.
Our lists since 2002 all had/have the same trait.

Terrible game tonight and congrats to Goldy who probably had Carrazzo's presser from last monday on high rotation pre game. They a going to be tough to beat at home from this season on.

Ratten MUST STAY!!!!....................apparently because Walls and Parkin say so. And that's good enough for some bozo bozos out there.

Honestly, the Ratten apologists have seen a dozen or more of these games over the last three years. Games where we've had all to play for, games where there was some expectation on us to win, games that made a statement etc.

But still they talk about coming from a long way back, basket case nonsense, gradual improvement garbage, injuries effluence yada yada yada.

I'll say it again. Not sure about MM at Carlton. Am sure that Ratts should NOT be at Carlton.

As gutted as you are right now Brett, just remember you were given a gift to coach the club you played for with the flakiest CV of all the coaches. You gave it your best shot. You lived the dream that many assistant coaches more experienced than you will never have the chance to live. Good luck, but
sorry......"It's time to go Brett"

I thought Bryce Gibbs was really good tonight. 15 disposals, and I really liked how he decided not to tackle or attempt smothers or show any form of intensity....he kept himself nice and clean and his socks pulled up. It's always good to have someone looking nice and clean in defense.
Love how he was kept in the backline the whole night, playing loose and jogging around contests when the ball was there to be won.
Love how when the game was there to be won, when we were up against it and we were crying out for some ball winning midfielders, we turned to Bell, Curnow, McLean....we couldnt possibly waste Bryce's 'creativity' and 'composure' and 'football brain' in an attacking position.

I can't recall a more emotional year of football such as this one. After the dark years of 2002 - 2007, things could only get better (and they did). That was smashed to bits tonight. I have been on edge all year, knowing deep down we are not good enough. However, we were still a chance to make finals. I can now get on with the rest of my year. Don't think I will be investing as much emotion into my team after this year. Time to get some proper perspective.

I'm really hoping that our mental weakness and inconsistent effort are purely coaching problems otherwise we'll never go anywhere this group.

As for the game itself our disposal was woeful and goal kicking even worse with Levi the main culprit with some assistance from Waite. We need to fix that quickly because we're not exactly flush with alternative forward options. I thought Walker back and Yarran forward worked fairly well. Gibbs was poor while McLean and Curnow worked hard all game. Ellard didn't offer much but looked to be limping which might explain his lack of output. Garlett was back to his mid season form. Some nice tapwork from Kreuzer.

Injuries and hopeless conversion ... sums up Carlton's season nicely

Look at the injuries and players missing from GC tonight. Something like 13 of their best 22. :?

Good stat, but GC are full of the best young talent in the country, so its not like they haven't got much depth. GC played quite good and came out of the gates on fire and had a sniff. Ball bounced their way the whole game and made the most of their opportunities.

If Carlton kicked straight they would of won by 30-60pts tonite. Waite / Casabolt 2 goals out of 9 shots!!

Goal kicking coach please. flower academy needed!

Disgusted, embarressed, and ashamed of the players today.

I'll be f##ed if I will take the easy out and blame Ratts for this loss. He wasnt responsible for the pi55weak effort put in by the boys degrading our colours today. Ratts made the changes but his cattle were too mentally weak to do what needed to be done.

Kudo's to McLean, Curnow and Bell for getting us back in the game and competing against the opposition. WTF were the rest of the boys doing? That would have to be the worste game i've seen Murph ever play. He did 3 fifths of F all, along with Simmo, Garlett , Betts, Touhy,..........Jesus 18 of our 22.

This football club is gonna get one hell of a shock come Mar '13 as their membership will take a massive hit as a result of this seasons EFFORT ! ( or lack of )

Reminded me of the game where we sold a game up to the Gold Coast and the players had a few beverages with the Prez afterwards.

I feel your pain Tommi, I was like that round 4 and have been at various levels of numbness ever since. Im not even that angry tonight, I should be but I am not, and that makes me sad

Why does tonight not surprise me? I could almost see the next shit play unfolding in my mind before it happened...
Insipid club that doesn't stand for the club I grew to love when I was a boy. We've become mid-table nobodies
