Waite has to play this week

It is now or never , it will really give us a good mind set of what the club is thinking on if they have given the year up or still want to make it - His selection or non selection will confirm that

I said a good lead out swimmer.
Like a girl, in other words. :-)

Other dangers for us will be Kieren Jack, Daniel Hannebery, Rhys Shaw, Mike Pyke, Jude Bolton and Marty Mattner.

All these players need to be taken out of their comfort zones, negated and/or made accountable the other way. We break even with the above guys and we win the match.

Simple, really

Best way to negate a team, any team is win the physical battle. Be harder and more committed at the ball.

Bell, Robbo, Maclean, Levi ... they have to set the tone for the others to follow.

Robbo should be like a junkyard dog off the chain for the first time in a month. Can't wait for this one.

Agree 100%

We out-muscle the Duckies off the ball for 4 quarters, and we're 75% home.

We simply have to be harder at the contest for the whole match, and want the win more. You can guarantee they'll want the win, but do our boys?

Pink Ducks due for a loss. 8 wins straight. Last loss was in May at the dome.

Will be a tough game, but they are due a loss.

hey guys... first time poster. been reading all season.

imo, Simmo and Robbo are automatic selections if they're fit... not so sure about Walker. yes he was good last year, but his form has been pretty bad this year even when fit.

right now i'd drop Dale and Davies for Simmo and Robbo and leave the rest the same.

Takes a special courage to have been reading all year and come in now to say your piece, haha. Welcome.

Like your ins too. I think Walker's problem has been as much being left in no man's land with no apparent role obvious to me. Although, I understand he has been playing under duress due to injury for a while.

Definitely need 1AW fit and firing up forward though.

I agree....no unfit players.....we can't afford to be carrying anyone....

Is Goodes a definite out?

Out: DAVIES, Dale & Duigan
In: Watson, robbo & Waite

If Waite needs another week play White.

Joseph to tag jetta.
Carrots to Jack
McInnes might get his biggest job yet on O'Keefe.
Sub Thornton, Waite or Casboult when/if required for faster small. I'd go with Curnow as sub.
Gibbs to do his usual job on Goides if he pulls up.

With Reid a definite out, possibly goodes too & fact it's in Melbourne has risen our chances from none to slim.

Ive been pessimistic the past 2 wks so I'll stay that way.

You forgot Ted Richards - Could be a job for Duigan take him out of his comfort zone
Shaw will go forward again he always does against us and kicks 2 or 3
McVeigh always saves his best for us aswell

Only played 3 time in Melbourne this year for 2 losses and one win - The win coming against the bombers by 4 points at Etihad- the other losses were tigers at the G and Saints at Etihad - It could be interesting coming back from the Gold Coast

Yes, forgot McVeigh. Always dangerous. And saves his best for matches like this. And Malceski, too.

Richards is an annoyance, but shouldn't be too difficult to overcome.

LRT = B- player. Duigan or Bower to take him.

Reid being out is a BIG plus for us. Goodes being an out is a bonus, but The Duckies cover his absence well, and often play better without him, as he frees up their focus and makes them less "Goodes-centric" and spread the attack.

Kieren Jack Dan Hannebry and Jetta the big dangers, IMO.

Jeez some people that post on here must have no idea about Football. How can they say that you have to play Kruezer as a Ruck rover. Yes he is agile and can make a contest but he is simply too big and slow to play as a permanent midefielder. The oppositiopn would crucify him on transition and we would end up one man down.

At certain times throw him there for 5 mins but playing him Ruck Rover is stupid. Kruezer was drafted as the best young Ruckman in the land and has shown signs of being this way when fit. BUT the Carlton match Committee never get it right when it comes to our Ruck situation. In this day and age you cannot play two specialist ruckmen unless one can be very effective up fwd. On the weekend we got it right with Kruezer and casboult and altough Casboult has got a long way to go, this is the model of a second ruck you need. Look at the teams doing it well at the moment.

Hawthorn - Bailey and Roughead

Sydney - Mumford and Pyke

Crows - Jacobs and Tippett (when not concussed)

The only side that is getting away with playing 2 specialist ruckman and it works is West Coast and that is because Cox and Natanui are freaks.

As for this week. No need to make wholesale changes. Simmo wont be right, so dont worry about him.

INS - Robbo and Waite (play as sub)

OUTS - Dale and Davies (this bloke is no good, but Ratts loves him i cannot for the life of me see why)

Apparently Watson and White played well in the Ressies but i dont think there is a match up for them. And as for Tex, some time in the 2s to rip it up before he comes back.

Did we ever get an answer as to why Watson was dropped last week?

No. He certainly didn't warrant an omission, but i'm guessing it had something to do with the wet. He's not the fastest player out there.

In the end, we won, so you'd have to say that Ratt's made the correct move.

However I reckon Watson will be a player. I doubted him to begin with but those few games we've given him in the seniors have done wonders for his confidence.

I think it was because they really rate Davies - why I am not sure but I think Davies and White will be both in this team sooner rather than later - Davies got isolated a few times early in the game and dished up free kicks but he was going to be beaten anyone and Cotchin and Martin are no slouches

He remained incident free after 1/4 time but what his opponent was doing Im not sure

Davies for what ever he does is held in high regard

No, but I reckon it was 90% to do with the lack of match up, 10% to do with the wet.

Either way, it was the correct decision.
