We use the word "still" - if we keep dishing up this level of mediocrity how long will we "still" be getting better crowds than Hawthorn or for that matter any of the other big Melbourne Clubs.

They play games in Tassie so it's hardly an apples comparison.

One things for sure is that they've come from a long way behind us in the 80's to at least level pegging atm.

This last decade has been a disaster for us in almost every measurement of a football club.

A few years ago Hawthorn were going to merge...
We were the best.
Id say Hawthorn is showing us a clean pair of heels in every aspect.

So its not mandatory a club remains average.....just depends on how clubs go about picking themselves up and getting professional.

Were average!!!

Average in every way

According to the latest BRW rich list, Harold Mitchell is worth $335m. He's a legend in the ad industry.

Would Sticks really not approach Mitchell with a view to him taking over as President?

That wouldnt make his the reluctant president any longer.
Sticks is the perpetual reluctant president.. and his ass is bolted on to the reluctant presidents chair.

Someone would have to take Sticks by the hand and take him to Harry just as they did to take him to Pratt.
Personally, id find the yarns pretty embrassing about myself if i was Sticks. Alot of people spinning the shit to make Sticks sound like he did something.
Elliots idea!!!

Three or four years of Mitchell and it would mean huge leaps forward for this footy club
Just in professionalism and exposure alone.. which would translate into everything else.

Im wondering how much the Visy sponsorship actually is per year.
anyone know?

I read the power index article, Mitchell wields enormous hard and soft power as the country's king of media buyers. He'd have the ear of those running the big brands. You'd think a Mitchell led CFC would increase sponsorship and high-end membership / hospitality numbers enormously.

There was another in the room who claims it was his doing and considering the history of the carlton Football Club I'd suggest that's probably correct.

As far as Harold is concerned it's a good thing Christopher Skase passed away when he did and didn't come back to Oz.

A few skeletons in that closet.

Elliott set up the meeting. Lofts, Elliott, Kernahan and Gleeson were present at the meeting.

Pies once had about 15% (best guess) more fans than us, now it's more like 20% plus. Membership has gone the same way.

Even the Tigers have 50,000 members and how long since they've played finals?

All teams play home games @ the G and 1 even playing lower ranking interstate teams in Tassie.....hmmmmm
