Scary that we see Yarran, Thornton and Carazzo as the saviours

Its not so much the player more the type of player for me. We missed a good small backman with clean hands last night. Soon as the ball hit the ground we were super shaky. So Yaz fits the bill plus someone like Saad would have been worried about him more than the other way around.

Bower and/or Duigan dont need to be in the team. Upsets our balance. Too lumbery. Tbird comes into sub. Can give us what we need at either end if there are problems. We can then use another running player early in the game when it is there to be won.

A runwith mid that racks up possessions and has clean hands is needed. Carrazzo fits the bill and he is/was in super touch.

Reckon Thornton needs to start with maybe Hendo up fwd as well....Waite was a liability last night either switch him to CHB or leave him out this week....

We need to put Kreuzer at FF and tell him to tell the FB ..... 'The midfielders have been instructed to kick it long to me - and see those two lil' fellas? They're gonna get whatever I drop....good luck'.

That should scare the crap out of any backmen in the comp.

The best statement Ratts can make is a presser where he announces his resignation.

Woah...woah...woah Synners...whilst the coach isn't completely blameless here - the stats don't lie. Pure and simple - it's laziness. I'll say it again...the stats don't lie.

Hitout count 60-25, yet of those 60 only 11 were to advantage...

67% disposal efficiency...

4th week in a row that Carlton have lost the Clearance battle, despite being 3rd in AFL for Hitouts...

51 clangers....

As you keep reiterating (and I wholeheartedly agree)....footy is pretty simple. So before Ratts gives you the satisfaction of resigning...his job this week along with Bomba, Rowdy, Barks, Richo and Willo will be to break it down for these numbnuts who don't seem to 'get it'.

We need to restructure the fwd line in order to get 1AW into the midfield full time....get Gibbs to play his role up forward....it's time....the midfield needs an extra set of balls other than Judd's....

Yes but Doc isn`t it down to Ratts that the players have become so lazy/complacent.

We clearly have a team of dumb players then. The stats say we won, the scoreboard says we lost - I say we were humiliated. We had dumb players who can't kick, passing to 1 on 4 in the corridor and missing the target by 2 metres. Turnover - goal :banghead: .

We had a senior player in a 50/50 position ignore a player in a 100% certain position and missed. Down the other end for a goal.

If we aren't drilling into the players the need for discipline, we need someone who can.

I don't wholly subscribe to that theory when the processes are in place for the team to succeed. At the stage the team and the coaches are at now, I view the coaches as - and this might be a bad analogy - the consultants ...they might write the strategic vision for the company - but after they leave, it's up to the people driving that business to implement the necessary change to move the company forward. In this case - that's the players. I didn't go to the game, but I half expected to read that the flu had gone through the team during the week. Otherwise, I can't think of a valid excuse they'd have for that level of apathy on a football field.

What worries me about last night is the ineffectiveness of Barry Prendergast. What St.Kilda did was nothing extraordinary, yet it seemed the coaches hadn't planned for it because the opposition analyst hadn't told them about it.

I wouldn't be putting it on Prendergast, that's a massive cop out that even Ratt's wouldn't hide behind.

In the presser Ratt's was asked directly if he was surprised how the Saints played and he said words to the effect of "we were not surprised, we went in with our eye's wide open. We've watched them for 3 weeks, they did what we thought they'd do."

Yet the players only played with real intensity for a 5 min period in the 3rd 1/4.

We need a smaller zippy backline that can keep up when the counter is on. One that will keep its nerve when the ball hits the ground inside their fifty.
Hendo and jamo can handle the arial balls. Not many contested marks have been taken inside our defensive fifty this season. We have it covered.

We set up pretty well against Freo with a goal keeper. That was good in stopping teams from kicking into space behind our defense. We need to use that more often.
AJ had a good day against freo though so that probably helped. We stop the counter and they will have to adjust their tactics and from there we can get the game on our terms.

Dont write off the season yet. A few tweaks, a bit of form and we can get to 8-2 after 10 and from there work our way to 17-18. We were not that far off last night. Four up in a pack, an open palm to a stomach, and a missed kick from Henda into the middle.

Hard work is whats needed and everyone has to buy in. A big first quarter and we are back !

Doesn't anyone just watch a game anymore?
This could actually just let you know what you are looking for.

I thought Armfield did pretty well on NDS last night. Not the greatest with ball in hand but worked harder than most. With Joseph a near certainty to be dropped can't see Dennis going out as well.

I didn't wholly blame Predergast - but he didn't do his job properly. Read my posts....I blamed the players. There are some guys on our list who have an elevated opinion of their footballing ability.

Ratts said he did do his job properly, it sounded like Ratts saw exactly the same thing, and they prepared for it.

Best laid plans and all that.

The good news is that we are the team that turns sides from also rans to flag hopefuls.

How in Gods name are we $1.35 to $3.00 faves for this match.

Does Ratts own Sportsbet?
