If Hammer comes in it has to be at the expense of Setanta or Thornton.

With the taller West Coast forwardline maybe Bower for Davies.

Cant drop Thornton after that game

If Mr erratic could just settle down a bit he could have had 4 or 5 against his name

I just hope we don't make the same mistake as last time, and play an extra tall based on their match ups.

I'd prefer to have an extra runner, Tuohy or Lucas at the expense of Davies in a perfect world here. Having said that, too many question marks on Kreuzer, Hampson, Laidler and Gibbs before getting to the crux of it.

Hampson or Kreuzer for o'hAilpin possibly too I guess.

Setanta would be incredibly stiff to miss. Watch the replay and see how many times he gets his hands to the ball in the marking contest and brings it to ground right in front of him. No chance Thornton will miss as someone suggested. Ratts said it was his best game for the club. There was the usual shot at Ellard too, I saw him at the bottom of packs plenty of times....unless we’d rather Judd doing that.

Agree!!
Surely Setant will play?

Thought his first half was magnificent, and really allowed the smalls to get into the game.

If Kreuzer is fit, he'll miss either way.

If not, then I reckon it depends if Cox plays. If he does, I reckon Hammer in for him. If not, Setanta stays.

Assuming Gibbs and Laidler are fine to play, I think the only change would be Kreuzer or Hampson in for Davies.

Setanta was great in the forwardline, but really struggled in the centre. We can't risk that against Cox and Nic Nat, so we need someone else to help out Robbie.
I was a little sceptical of Ellard's inclusion, but he was fantastic yesterday. No way will he be dropped.

Might need some more run on the big wide ground boys! My bet is Lucas may play instead of Davies! Does depend on injuries!
Irish will be stiff to miss, may be silly and scare every carlton supporter, but in finals you need those blokes that bleed blue.. and he does!

Subi is long not wide. It's narrower than Ethiad.

Hope Thornton can make McKenzie accountable this time, he cut us up last time standing by himself and marking everything that went down there.

Mitch to make Hurn's life a misery.

Hampson in for Setanta.

Need two genuine ruckmen; lucky Setanta wasn't rucking against anyone decent yesterday.

The second ruckman these days is someone who spends 70% of the time in the forward line and maybe 30% in the ruck.

Setanta kicks goals, takes contested marks and competes on the ground. He is superior to Hampson in all these things, the only thing he is inferior to Hampson is ruckwork.

Since the second ruckman will be spending 70+% of the time in the forward line I want Setanta's skillset, not Hampson's.

Setanta Vs Cox or NicNat in the ruck is a massive concern. Hampson can trouble defences with his height and athleticism and crashes the contest a lot more as well.

Davey Ellard might be in trouble holding his spot, his game was only so-so and he isn't the fastest around . If we want more pace he could go for Tuohy, Russell or even Bower, all of whom bring more pace, size, versatility and penetration in disposal. Davies I think gone for Hammer or Kreuzer if his foot is right. No obvious match-up for Joseph unless Kerr comes back, but probably keep him, been playing well.

I thought Ellard was great in the second quarter, when it mattered. Id heard a little while ago that he'd been playing very sore and the week to the VFL or so was really to help him manage the body - not sure if the source was good but it didnt surprise me to see him come back in. His clearance work was very good.

That being said Priddis destroyed him earlier in the year, which to me is a bit embarrassing. The Eagles beat us in a number of spots last year but the tags will need to be carefully considered this week - if we break even in the middle the Eagles will win I think.

Does anyone know if Hammer actually rucked on the weekend, or just sat in the goal square?

Will be very interesting to see how Cox pulls up after the weekend. With Warnock starting to believe in himself, and Hammer bashing the door down for selection, we might find ourselves in the bizarre situation of having a ruck ascendency against WC.

Thanks. That is a stunning game at any level. 22 disposals for him - Hampson at senior level finds it difficult to crack double figures normally. He is either learning the game better or they just ran away from him given his sheer size!

Completely different defence facing the weagles.

Last time there was no Duigan, no Laidler and no Joseph. All now fit and in form.

Jamo went down in just the second qtr of that game.

It was Hendos first game in defence. He's now up and flying back down there now.

Round 14 was the blues playing with no defence.

Add to that the wide open spaces of PS and we're every chance. Go Blues!!

We'll be underdogs for sure, and the pressure will be on them, especially given our previous game against them. But a BF poster put things into perspective:
Quote:
Last time round, we went in with:
- a debutant (O'Keefe)
- a KPD playing his first and only game in two seasons (Austin)
- a guy playing his second game in a season (Houlihan)
- a ruckman who hadn't played in 6 weeks (Warnock)
- our other ruckman playing his 3rd game in a year (Kreuzer)
- an Irishman in his fourth game of footy (Tuohy)
- our best KPP playing just the one quarter (Jamison)
- our 2nd best KPD playing his 3rd game at AFL level in 3 months, up forward (Henderson)

Plus no Laidler or Duigan. It's a far different ballgame this time around. We can win this.

Wasn't Mitch out, too?
