With Henderson & Kruezer back it allows us to use Waite as he should be used. A mobile mid rotating between wing and in the centre. He can float back or forward when needed and if we have a key position injury he can cover that as well.

A tall mid who can mark and run will just add to an already good side. The addition of Touhy, Henderson, Kruezer with Laidler & Waite makes us a very balanced unit. For the first time in a long time we have very good players covering all positions. :smoking:

I personally would not use Waite like that. I would prefer to have a nimble and fitter onballer type in the midfield. The only advantage we would get using him like this is having a target when trying to get out of defence but we seem to have that covered with rucks.
We should try and get the forward line working with him in there or he, henda, walker and Kreuzer can fight it out for the positions in the forward line.

I see our run being our biggest asset and would not want to lose that just to squeeze someone into the team. Our balance of talls and running players that can rotate onball has been so imprtant to our teams success so far this season in my opinion.

hf: Walker Waite Gartlett
ff: Kruezer Henderson Betts

That is one extra tall in the forward line than we have played all year. Could be worth a look but i reckon it will upset our balance again and we may see our forward pressure suffer and Walkers output decline.
We have scored a large chunk of our score this year by locking the ball in and then hitting the scoreboard with the repeat fifty caused by the press. We don't need so many tall forwards for that to work. In fact it probably works against it.

I like two nimble talls (walker, Waite/Henda) and a ruck/forward (Kreuzer) moving through there occasionally. Surround them with Garlett Betts and another resting onballer or defensive forwards.

I'd swap waite/henderson - waite is better at ground level and probably more value deep with henderson as the mobile CHF

I'd also leave Hampson & Kreuzer in the area where they do their best work: in midfield taking the ruck role and pushing forward. As good as Hampson's mark was, his midfield play and tap-in goal were much better.

Agree with Cazz. Laidler for either Bower or Thornton and that's our best 22.

I love the quickness and run that we have playing a smallish side. We have not played a true CHF all year.

However, I reckon come finals time we need to play the extra tall. We can always sub one of them off in the 2nd half.

Thinking about All the guys having their best year at the club

Judd
Murphy
Gibbs
Robbo
Yazz
Scotto
Garlett
Walker
Jamo
Ellard
Carazzo

Plus
Duigan
Laidler
Curnow

Top 4 baby

Loved a nice stress free day at the footy
Loved hearing "KROOOOOOOOZE" again
Loved everyone going mental when Zac kicked that goal
Loved Robbo being applauded after copping a heavy one then trotting back down field like it was nothing
Loved Jeff cheekily running into goal while everyone was shoving each other around

10 goal win over a bottom side, we did what we had to do.

RAPTED with the win. We still need to get better and converting our match dominance on the scoreboard though.

A wee bit disappointed to let them get 5 goals in the last qtr, but equally I was happy that we fought back and ran the game out quite well.

Our general team work and combination play has come on leaps and bounds this year alone.

Pfft, Gibbs won't let anyone get near Goodes. Not even his teammates.

Just thinking back to a young Michael Voss talking on television about how the lions had caused the demise of a carlton coach (was it Jezza?) and that they were hoping to do it again. Could karma be knocking on the door?

I would have given Mitch the 3 votes today with Murphy getting 2 and Judd the one... But umpires see it differently, that's why Judd will probably get 3

Not that it really matters, lets just hope McGuire has a cry again this year.

Jamison 3, Murphy 2, Hampson 1.

Jamison did an exceptional job on Brown limited him to four kicks. Taking brown out of the contest took Brisbane out of it. Then started a lot of our run oot of the back.
Murphy is up there with Judd now. Judd still gets more hardballl slightly but Murphy's disposal is better then Judds I believe.
Hampson dominated the ruck too mark of the year contender.

Walker , Robinson and Judd not fgar behind. Thing is we are not really getting standout players it is an overall team effort. We have some depth. Have proven we can beat Geelong (despite the fact we didn't), Collingwood will be a test but we have improved quite a lot since they got us early on. Need to beat Sydney, WCE and Richmond in the next three however.

I am beginning to think it is possible in 2011. There is a bit of Hawthorn 2008 about us at the moment.

It was Parkin.

Well done for bringing this up....the karma train.

Voss barracked for Carlton as a kid.
Lions beat Carlton in 2001 and claimed it would cost Parkin his job.
Didn't want to take the Carlton coaching job (Pagan's at the time) on offer?
Wasn't interested in anything Carlton?
Got caught on camera king hitting a walker by in StKilda. True colurs on display.
He got great joy as his team came back from 5 goals down in the last to beat us by less than a kick in the Elimination.
Wanted Fevola at all costs to win a Flag.
Wanted to offload mate, and a broken footballer in Bradshaw in the swap for Fevola.

But what did Voss get from his snub and pertulance towards Carlton?
Lost Fevola, Lost his Team, Lost a lot of money they didn't have, Lost respect, Lost, Henerson, Lost Lucas, Lost games against Carlton....Lost Lost Lost.
Rhymes with Vosst Vosst Vosst.

Up yours Vossy. So glad you didn't come to my club and @#$%&! it up like you did up in Brisbane. Karma
