Happy with the win. i reckon it was a lot greasier and wetter under foot than it looked from the stands - hence the ugliness of the game.
Carrots had a fairly horrorible night in terms of delivery. But did ANY of mitch's 30 posessions go to an uncontested carlton player - not from what I saw, love the kid but his kicking need a shiteload of work.
I Love Irish.

realised at some boring stage of the game that over the last 25 yrs we've had players called:

English (des)
Welsh (rohan)
Scotland (heath)
Irish (O'Hailpin)

(id also like to see a team with
Brown, Black, White, Green, Grey, and Redden
all in the one team..... :screwy:)

My changes (as opposed to what I think wil happen)

Out: Warnock, Thornton, Betts, McLean, Setanta
In: Hampson, Henderson, O'Keefe, Touhy, Houlihan

DAMN!!!! After a skim read of the above post from The Psychologist (following a very valiant loss by 2 pts to the undefeated No1 team, I said to myself this is not worth reading)
But I couldn't help myself. So I read it.

u suggest 5 changes in all (that's a quarter of the the team!) u think Okeefe and tuohy warrant a call up???!!!! ................ not worth writing anymore
Surprised you didnt suggest Dare for Yarran, and Arrowsmith for an underperforming Gibbs, and maybe a rookie list eelevation for Tyson Thomas to replace Ellard or Kade? And definitely drop Betts and Irish (NOT) they've been atrociously bad last few weeks (AS IF)

The Psych - just some advice, stick to analysing Rorschach inkblots.

Boring game, first half watching us go into the 50 was painful ... lots of watching the tapes this week. Good thing is we were never not in control of the game and it was good for the heart which has suffered multiple heart attacks the last few weeks!

Was amazed at the final score 47 point win that felt like a 15 point win.

Happy with the win, Murph is now elite, I want Judd's love child, Go Irish .... hopefully not too much to be concerned with re injuries ... fingers crossed!

My mate and I call Robbo the Psycho, he is crazy but needs to use the ball better in space. Seems to do well when he does not have time to think but when he does its a different story????? Hard as diamonds though ... gotta love him.

Walker, Eddie and Jeffy are the new three amigoes!

Have always been a Ratts supporter but have to say he has surprised me this year, great player possibly great coach ... couldn't wish a guy more success ... BLEEDS BLUE!

Its just plain good to have people starting to be wary of us ... even scared. Its been a long long time coming and its time to settle a few scores!

GO BLUE BOYZ!!!!

He was horrible tonight. Even his better kicks made it hard for his teammate.

Dour game of footy, although agree with what others have said - it was very greasy out there. Got soaked walking from the Cricketers to the ground, so I can imagine it would have been very slippery out there. To win by nearly 8 goals in those conditions was a great effort, although it wasn't pretty.

What the great thing about our side is, in the coming weeks we will be (hopefully) having the likes of Bower, Henderson, Curnow, and Kreuzer returning.

Good win. Did enough and added some much needed percentage.

Waitey's stats weren't outstanding last night but he's been playing with maturity and providing a real solid presence for us in recent times.

The enforced spell for JR might be a blessing as he can re-focus and hopefully return to the form of last year when he returns.

Dees v Sainters last week was one of the worst games I've watched. Dees v Carlton this week not much better.

It's the way Melbourne play at the moment. Defensively, dragging teams down to their level.

Crap game, but, 47 point win against a team simply trying to limit the damage, damn good result.

Have to say I am pleased with Irish and Tbird lately. I know I've bagged them both at times (along with everyone else here) but they have been very solid the last few games. Both were good last night.

That fan is a scientist who will use the DNA left on the lip of the bottle to create a SuperIrishman.

Or he could create a horrible man-sports drink hybrid called 'Setantade'. Quenches your thirst, while filling you with an uncontrollable urge to fist pump any positive outcome and kick like a mule when people speak ill of you.

Why is Gibbs tagging and Carazzo isn't?

I don't approve, I don't care if he does it properly as Carazzo can do it just as well...our #1 pick should be hunting the footy and damaging the opposition, not performing a shut down role.

Gibbs had 22 useful possession while keeping Melb's best onballer to 15 ineffectual possies.
I would say that worked well.
I would have thought Gibbs was in our top 5 players.

I can't see the problem???

He is quite effective in almost every position/role he plays, but I still don't understand why he's being used as a tagger rather than a bona-fide midfielder in a similiar vein to Judd/Murphy etc. It's a disgrace.

If he does a role for the team and damages the opposition with his possies, I would say that is as important as Judd/Murphy.

It may mean less Supercoach points, but hopefully thats not what our players are motivated by.

Wouldn't we be better off having someone like Carazzo tagging and Gibbs hunting the footy? The current strategy boggles the mind.

Gibbs' possessions > Carazzo's possessions

Gibbs is doing a great job for the team at the moment. Running with a good player and still managing to find the ball. Can play back too if his opponent tries to go forward to shake him. He can play on tall players and be solid part of the back 6.

You would be better off asking why we keep playing Carazzo and why we havent upgraded his position with a better user of the ball?
That debate has been going on for a while at talkingplayers.

Didnt get out of first gear all night (and didnt need to) yet we still won by 47 points...
- Judd was just a class above everyone else on the ground, but Murph is closing the gap...
- Again a nice spread of goal kickers up forward, although our goal kicking accuracy is still a big concern
- Robbo and Carrots continue to be turnover kings
- Had hoped Hammer would take his opportunity of playing as the main ruckman and play well, but on last nights display (apart from some good tap work at times) I dont think he ll be in the seniors much longer once Warnock and Kroooooz come back into the side.
- McLean had the prefect chance to show his wares (scrappy game on a rainy night) but put in another average display, and probably wont be the player we d hoped he d be. Curnow will replace him in the side in the next week or two.

As for the opposition, Liam Jurruh would have to be the most overrated player in the competition. He is just lazy and selfish. And then there's 'Jacqui' Watts.... This guy is barely AFL standard, let alone No 1 Draft pick standard. Not only did Bailey had to play him as the loose man in defence just so he could get a kick, and when he did get the ball, his kicking accuracy was at a pathetic 28%, with EIGHT innaffective kicks IN A ROW! I know people keep saying he s young and all that , but geeze, things arent looking good for him...
