Pros:

Have improved greatly from last season in a number of areas.
We got close against a very good side.

Cons:

Our forward 50 entries continue to be our one major weakness....once rectified we will be very very difficult to beat.
Gave my reserved seat last night to my cousin as I couldn't get to the game (watched it on Telly) and he just text me this morning saying how much more gutted he was watching his 5 year old son calmy nail 2 goals from 15 meters out at Auskick....

Our forward press - one of the best in the business

Our forward press - don't get enough reward for the pressure we exert.
Leaking easy goals - we need to work on establishing a better defensive zone behind our forward half. All too often opposition sides carve us up a little too easily through the midfield, embarrassingly at times and I don't mean just last night.

That would be the result of the forward press. We bring our deep defenders up way too far, and they're regularly a kick from CHF, which means a simple turnover becomes a real threat the other way in about 5 seconds.

Getting to round 9 with only two losses is pretty good. We could make the halfway mark of the season with only two losses.

We have 3 we need to move out and 3 better options to bring in that should just about round us out a real contender (if we play with the same commitment and attitude in the future).

Yep, saw that too. If it's your turn to go, you go. Or the opposition does and you rarely get the ball.

sorry, but when they are paid,$400k, for warnock, then he should kick those.
forget all about what went before, the fact remains that he missed ............. and we lost!!!
and we are entitled to be angry

You left out after 'entitled to be angry' "and completely f#$%ing irrational, small minded and simplistic!!!!!!!"

What did Betts do all game?
What did Gibbs do all game?
Why couldn't Yarran get into the game? Why didn't Ratts mix it up a bit with Yarran?
Why couldn't they wait another week to bring Brock in?
Mitch bleeds for the club. He needs max game time
etc

Blaming Warnock is the easy panacea. Hope it's made you feel better
BTW. He was concussed

Betts was average; Gibbs was great; Yarran was swung around when it was apparent he was quiet, then swung back; Curnow forced their hand; Mitch needed the half off after the last few games.

Between the two of you, you're on about one from six. Take a deep breath and run through the game again if you need to. Blue Beatle can take two deep breaths.

Pros;

Agree with Mr C - biggest sign last night was the team belief in what they were doing. In previous years, we would have folded 5 minutes into the third term. Our ability to turn momentum against good teams is what will carry us deep into September this year. And I am now convinced we will be playing deep into September. On to the players...

Scotland - His best game in navy blue? Composure at all times - check out his release handball in the first quarter which ended up with Betts running into an open goal. Just beautiful.

Murph - Massive, massive game for him. Four quarter effort, lifted without Juddy in the guts in the second half.

Gibbs - Great game, stepped up when he needed to. I'd like a bit more weight on some of his kicks - he sets them up a bit high and soft at times.

Duigan/Laidler - Wanted to put these two together because together they've given us some backbone and structure down back. Duigan last night really stood up. They are both fearless. Terrific recruiting.

Waite - Please Jarrad. Bottle that and uncork it each week. How good is he when he plays in front? Walker dangerous as always.

Plenty of decent efforts across the board. Thought Warnock is being treated a little unfairly. He very much neutralised Ottens, we won clearnaces etc. I'll take that game from him. I just wish someone could have quietly got into his ear to stay down after the free kick. Given he spent the night in hospital, he didn't have the presence of mind to do it himself.

Cons;

Umpiring. Enough said.

Brock bashing- Let's all give him a couple more weeks before condemning him. Some of his work in close was good, and it was his first game in a year. Probably his first game fully fit in a year and a half. How much has the game changed in that time? He deserves more a chance to show he's still got something.

The scoreboard at the end.

I knew as soon as we lost 99 would be back. Haven't heard from them for weeks whilst we were winning.

Hope we do win our next seven games

I don't think he is, but he wasn't going to get anything more out of the VFL.

That's probably true. Definitely worth persisting with at least until Curnow is healthy.

Better to leave Yaz back being tagged so he can learn how to deal with it. Once he realised he wasnt going to get the ball that much he
turned his attention to chasing and tackling. Great way to still have an impact.

Well coached by Ratts. Moved him for a few mins to let him re group then sent him back. Malthouse did this for years with Shaw and HarryO. Pays off in the end. A pro.

Gibbs was great. You are DELUSIONAL. But then it's not your fault. Gibbs has this 'Simon the likeable charm' about him that casts a spell on many a Carlton supporter. Unfortunately, you're just another one who is yields to the sparkle in his eye. Run through the whole year's PROs and CONs and media awards/votes. Gibbs has been in the main pretty average since the start of last year.
But hang on there's more - you'll probably say "what do the media know anyway"

Cotchin and Martin are better prospects than Gibbs

I'd ask you to take a deep breath but you may just inhale more "Eau de Bryce" and believe he'll actually come close to a Brownlow one day.

I was going to mention this but thought I'd get howled down.....yes Cazz.....it was obvious a few times, where one or two of ours would pull up as though shot....preferring to try to tackle the player who had the balls to go in to get the ball......not a good look at all.

This is something that Robbo and Duigan don't do.
