I used to think On The Couch was the best footy talk show on TV for its interviews. But it's really gone down hill. What once used to be insightful, in depth interviews featuring plenty of questions is now just an annoyance wedged in between blather.
It's a fine line, isn't it? They used to have longer interviews with more substance, but then very little time to talk about other teams/matches. And seeing as Carlton rarely gets people on these shows, it used to drive me a bit bonkers with Sheedy on 3 times a year. Now what they do is give better coverage to other teams/matches, and less time to the interview.
They should bite the bullet and get rid of the interview altogether.
Maybe that's the answer, stef. But they could streamline the show to a degree. I mean, did we really need them to wax on about Collingwood being a great team for ten minutes? I think we all know that. Further - if you're going to get someone on, at least ask a sensible question. The contract stuff had already been done over the weekend - I could have guessed his response to the questions almostword perfect, they were so vanilla. Really poor from them. If they are going to set themselves up as a serious show, at least try and make the audience think a little.
I like 360 because they are relaxed, and they don't mind having a crack when they feel it's warranted - that said, they don't have a crack for the sake of it (hello FC). They have a bit of a laugh, and I don't mind saying I have always been a fan of Robbos. Not always of his views, but I like the way he goes about it. Unlike a few of the other prominent journos I get a feeling from him that he truly loves the game, rather than loving what goes on around the game. And MacLure is a genius. I'm even learning to deal with King, who I found annoying at the start. Insider is ok, but I think the chemistry is better on 360.
