I have never sat general admission before at Etihad. I thought all level 3 was general admission?

We will get there early. Where is the best general admission seats to get?

Wing would be ideal but is that out?

GA should be the whole of level 3 from about Row G and back. The wing fills up quicker, and aisles 36-38 are Carlton members GA only apparently.

The CFC Twitter has a few ticketing updates http://twitter.com/carlton_FC

Etihad Stadium says gates open at 5.30pm so if you are scanning in with a Carlton or AFL membership you would probably want to be in by 6pm. http://www.etihadstadium.com.au/event-d ... eelong/414

I sucked up the ridiculous upgrade price and got myself a reserved seat, but now I am not sure if I can make the game :donk:

Thanks appreciate this.

We will be there at 5!

Yes, some articles floating about this afternoon recommending to anyone attending that you get there early as they are expecting a big crowd. One article mentioned the record being under threat.

Carlton do have two of the top ten crowds at Etihad for a H&A fixutre;

54444 St Kilda v Geelong Docklands 2009
53459 Carlton v Hawthorn Docklands 2007
53312 Kangaroos v Collingwood Docklands 2003
52539 St Kilda v Brisbane Lions Docklands 2004
51400 Geelong v Essendon* Docklands 2004
51382 Western Bulldogs v Collingwood Docklands 2009
51156 Essendon* v Geelong Docklands 2007
50820 Carlton v St Kilda Docklands 2009
50701 Essendon* v Hawthorn Docklands 2001
50636 Geelong v Essendon* Docklands 2008
50627 Collingwood v Geelong

Seriously, this is a fiasco of the highest order. I pay $450+ every year to be an AFL Carlton Club Support member with the expectation (promise?) that I can attend at least every home game (plus a heap more if I so desire).

Tried to donate EVEN MORE MONEY to the AFL and Ticket Master on Monday morning only to find there were no reserved seats left.

Now I'm told my only chance of getting in is to be there when gates open at 5:30pm (and even then there's no guarantee).

How is this an improvement on the old days when all games were 90% "walk ups"?

Hate Etihad. Hate the roof. Hate those AFL questionnaires that I dutifully complete at the end of every season (no-one's listening).

Bingo dommo, agree with you completely. Unfortunately there's money to be made in reserving and pre booking seats.

I just skip the big games these days. I go to Essendon* games if my nephew asks me to take him, but I can't remember the last Collingwood game I went to now.

The upgrade at the G is not too bad, $15 for a standard seat, can get one on level 1 easy.

But Etihad charge about $25 for an upgrade to sit on Level 3 FFS.

Less exposure to contagious diseases is a nice benefit too.

When I mentioned to my dad that I was sitting up the Scummers end in Round 4 he told me in all seriousness to make sure I had a good shower when I got home.

If you regularly go to matches, why don't you by reserved seat?

I have pre-booked all my seats for the year, AFL upgrade.
The one game we couldn't get was Geelong. The 300 tickets available for AFL members went instantly.
Yes that's right, 300. What a joke.

That's where Spirit of Carlton membership comes in handy. I know it's an extra expense, but worth it for times like this. This game really should have been at the MCG. Not a sound from Greg Swann who should have piped up about it when the draw was released. Their only concern is that the game was on a Friday night and TV exposure was assured.

Complete disgrace this -apparently GA Tickets sold out - should be at G disenfranchising 30 K people tonight -how many will turn up tonight and not get in

I understand club asked them to move it to G last week AFL wouldnt -too late yes but AFL shocking in not moving -club should insist we play Geelong at G -BOTH FINALISTS FROM LAST YEAR -ridiculous scheduling
Shouldnt have to book seats at etihad AS CARLTON or AFL member because it should NEVER be full otherwise the game should have been at the G -should have to transfer games

This all comes back to Wayne Jackson, Graeme Samuel, Ron Evans and the other idiots on the AFL Commission at the time arseholing Waverley (Capacity 80,000) and replacing it with a clearly inadequate stadium of 55,000 capacity.

With 4 Melbourne based clubs all pushing memberships towards 50,000 - the capacity of Docklands is clearly inadequate.

In 15 years time when the ownership of Docklands reverts to the AFL - the stadium will be dilapidated, to small and in need of demolition - and these idiots are going to be looking to replace it with a stadium of around 80,000.

They will probably end up buying 212 acres of land for an exhorbitant price somewhere in the East of Melbourne.

True, as a home game they should have looked at this game as a potential 70k+ crowd.
We need someone who thinks big. We had Pratt but not for long enough unfortunately.

A fizzer all of this

Rushed to get to the game and had no problems getting in at about 6.15. No queue, sat level 3 on the wing and there were spare seats around me.

Not saying it couldn't be a future problem however....

Weird thing happened on Friday night.

I went in general admin, was going to try to get a seat somewhere amongst the huddled masses or standing room somewhere.

After getting into the ground, met someone I knew at the SOC room. Said he had a spare seat. Said thank you very much.

Turns out the spare seat was one of the ones I advertised in the above quote!
