That's fine, you're not into design so you don't really care.

I'm into design and this is something that irritates me, like a food critic would be irritated if the flavor of his meal is not quite right!

Another comparison might be when I go to see a band with my mate. He's a musician so can hear all the missed notes, while to my untrained ear it sounds fine. But thing is I respect my mates opinion because he know more about music then me...

I understand that...I work with designers and they drive me nuts sometimes with their nit-pickiness!

And yet McDonalds is arguably the most consumed/purchased ready made food in the world despite its taste.

Does not have to be good to be liked.

But hey, I like the notches and hate McDonalds!

The question is, why??

Why can one of the biggest, most professional (and profitable) sporting clubs in the world manage to keep their identity intact, and we can't?

Why did we feel the need to change our logo to allegedly 'modernise' it

Yeah! Why did we modernise our logo by changing it to this?

Why couldn't we stick with the traditional logo?

Or even the one without the cricket club?

The bumps/notches/serifs ARE VERY IMPORTANT to the design! Do not underestimate the power of these small little graphic elements!

Forget the monogram. Until we go back to adidas, we won't win a flag

The new logo is good in theory but is a failure for me because it lacks boldness.

This could be fixed by making the big "C" larger.

We also need the notches back to lose the bare, circumcised look.

NY Yankees aren't the most valuable sporting club in the world of sport.

How many logos have Manchester United had? From memory their latest one was only started in 1970's.

It's not about the logo and the history per se, though it does help, but with clever marketing and a bit of success you can do anything if you have the right people in the job. Man Utd is testament to that, let's not use the logo to blame our problems on.

The last bloke is Chris Judd, I think the second last bloke is Jon Dorotich, the first bloke looks like Libba but he never played for Carlton. Wayne Blackwell looks like the bloke in the middle and I have no idea about the others.

When the monogram was originally bastardised in '98, I had several robust discussions with Stephen Gough. Good bloke Goughie ( Echuca premiership player), and while our chats became a little heated we finished ok.

When I put it to Stephen that all the club had done was transfer the club letterhead onto the jumper , he said ''Well, yeah that's right.''

You mean in 1910, when the monogram was originally changed.

introduced ?

The '98 change happened on ''Big Jack's'' watch. Nuff said really.

We initially played with no monogram on our guernsey.

The monogram was introduced in 1909, changed in 1910, changed again in 1927, changed again in 1998, and changed again (to our current monogram) in 2006.

The notches have been there all along though, even when there was no monogram...you just couldn't see them
