Richmond supporters seem pretty confident just going by what some of them are saying. They keep saying they have had a great week and will beat us.. I happen to think we will smash them personally. we have a good chance of going 3-1 after round 4. Glad its back

The "great week" was them receiving charity from supporters to pay off a debt. I fail to see how that will translate to their skills improving dramatically.....

They have developed the skill of counting, and adding up. Now they will definately know howexactly how many kicks they have shanked.

Which will be handy as they've recruited Shaun Grigg

It's just jitters..
nothing to worry about at all.
I sense a 'crazy big ' year for Carlton.
Possibly the most underrated and under anticipated team this season..
I don't have even the smallest doubt that we'll win by a fair bit on Thurs.
Maybe they'll be more competitive this year..and good on 'em if they are.
But..as for us.....
Us will be F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!

Always nervous playing the Tiges but I cannot see why we cant win and win well.

Our list is getting healthier each season and competition for spots will be fierce and hard fought

No reason why this game cannot be a springboard for a fantastic upcoming season for the Bluebaggers

Feral Black and Yellow bastards.

They are our bitches and will be dealt as such Thursday night....

If we don't win, then it's going to be a long year.....

Smash 'em Blues. Carlton by 56.

Blueboys to win by between 1 and 100 points. Lots of scope for happiness there.

This is by far the best Tigers team we have faced for years. Carlton by 17 points.

It would be the best coached for about 31 years as well (well Jewell had the players)

Was at The Sponsors night last week and a couple of players told me that Bower is out for 2-3 weeks with a calf injury. So don't expect him to play. You heard it first here!

All 3 TC'ers who went to the club sponsorship dinner the other night came back saying he was not in attendance and that he had a 2 - 3 week injury. People have come out of the woodwork thereafter and mentioned it being a 6 week lay off. I'm inclined to go with the former.

This has been mentioned in a half a dozen threads now.

EDIT: Now four apparently.

Tigers fans are a bit like Liverpool fans.

At the start of each season the fervour and excitement gets a hold of them and whisks them away into a place of fantasy and improbability. You can never doubt their passion, but their common sense and grasp of reality is sorely out of whack.

Why, exactly, will they go so well this year? Is it the mediocrity that has gripped their pre-season? The three decades of fleetingly intermittent success? Their all-star off season recruitment drive? What have they done since August 2010 and March 2011 that no other team has? Everyone is always out to improve, no one ever stands still. They would have improved since our last meeting, but I'm confident we have too.

Its first night jitters is all. We'll win.

Carlton 2012: Lets remind them why they once feared the Dark.

Anyway .. moving on ... why are the club hiding the injury to Bower? No mention of Bower anywhere!

If it's a 4 week injury what harm is there is listing him?

Very low key build by the blues to this game - unlike previous years -
tiges have had a lot of feel good article written about them

I like it

I have a sneaking suspicion that Paul Bower's legs are, in fact, made entirely of glass.

When the team is named tomorrow, does the sub have to come from the four interchange players or can it come from anyone?

Pretty sure it could be anyone, they just have to finalise it about 90 minutes before the game, but you would assume that it would come from a player named on the bench.

Starting to get excited. Like a few others am a bit nervous about this game and not super confident.
I believe the posters who say Bower is injured, they are usually spot on with their info. Our backline therefore will be understrength and Reiwoldt is a worry. Dont be surprised if Grigg plays a really good game.
i rang the AFL yesterday and they said it is definately a 7.40 start and were aware of the confusion. They also said they werent expecting it be a sell out so we are just turning up, a bit earlier, and taking our chances without a reserved seat.
Its great to have footy back.
