A reliable poster on BF is intimating that his father has a lot to say about what Murph does and may be advising to chase the money. Hope Murph has the balls to think for himself...

Just hope the club dont get sucked in to overpaying any of our players.

If any player wants to go then that is fine. You cant blame them if they get a Garry Ablett JNR type offer.

With the money we save and the picks we get we could come out better off with some clever drafting and trading.

Agree with not overpaying players, there is no way we will be able to match any offer that GWS will put forward. It is not an even playing field and it isnt fair.
Not sure what compensation we will get though, at best a pick in the middle of the first round. They only look at what pick the player was taken at if they have been in the system for 4 years or less.
He will be letting a lot of people down if he does go. We used a number one priority pick on him after several years on the bottom and i would be really disappointed if he just upped and left with us not getting the right compensation.

How do we come out better off?
2012 we would hopefully in our "window" and we lose a 24 yo key midfielder who has finished top 3 in the B&F the last 3 years - for 1st round draft pick?

If anyone who knows his father would know he is not like that. He would let Marc make his own mind up 100%. This is the same father who let Marc make up his own decision when he could have joined Brisbane.

The crap people come up with... unbelievable.

I don't know about who reliable posters are but if you use common sense anyone can be a 'reliable poster'.

Money Talks
But it don't sing and dance
And it don't walk
As long as Murph can stay with his cohorts
He'd much rather be
Forever in Blue Shorts

Apologies to Neil Diamond...

If it drags on well into the year, past half way mark, then I reckon he is gone

If he goes it will be a blow to the club however with free agency just around the corner this will become a common theme when players fall out of contract. I hope he stays but wont be surprised if he leaves.

He'll stay IMO. The blues are on the cusp of a successful period. GWS on the other hand, they'll be off the pace for a while yet.
Footballers enjoy money like the rest of us but as a rule, they crave team success more than anything.

Win us a premiership next year, and he's free to chase the cash.

That's true. As has been noted GWS is far less attractive than the GC yet look at who they scored....

Ablett has 2 flags, Brown 1 as well as the Ablett/Thompson situation and Brown being put up for trade 12 months ago.

Bock and Fraser have had it and are looking for a pension, Brennan just wants surf and cash, Rischa got the shites up with Voss and Brisbane aren't on the verge of winning anything but a spoon in the near future same with Krakourer.

Harbrow would be the only one that might have given up a flag chance, but even the Bulldogs might have milked they could out of this list and may see himself as good a chance of finishing his career with one at GC as he would at WB.

Also didn't Gary Ablett Junior join his brother Nathan to play footy with him. I am not sure that Murphy would have much family in Sydney though I may be wrong. Also Garry Ablett Junior had already won 2 premierships plus 3 (or more?) Matthews rewards. What else was left for him other than set himself up for early retirement.

If Murphy moves before he has similar success he might end up under pricing himself.
