dont put any money on it - pressure is coming from all directions and we are heading towards the seriuos stuff = another game like that next week and a half decent performance from Hendo in the magoos and he wont be fronting up against Freo

Geez Setanta is our leading goal kicker and doing alright for his first year as a permanent forward without Fev running the show.
Cut the bloke some slack. He had a bad game I agree, but he's had a pretty good start to the year!

As possibly THE BIGGEST Setanta fan on this forum, i'll agree he didn't have the best day out in terms of his own stats yesterday............but he did what was and is asked of him................. and that's create a target up forward.

Setanta,........even with 0 goals........... is a valuable member of our forward line. He brings the ball to ground and keeps it in our f50! And, more importantly, he is one of the most unselfish players i've seen in a while....................

Keep up the good work!

While i'm giving out Kudos............. i'd like to make a special mention to Scotland and Russell.......... I think these two have been our most consistent (and therefore, perhaps our most important) players this year so far!!!!!

I'm feeling oddly concerned about this game, maybe because I'll be inflight for the entire thing.

Agree 100%. Leeding Goalkicker ... rarely gets beaten ... opens up the play for our smalls.

Moved your vendetta to the main board I see.

Good point. My first impression was "WTF is this doing here?" Saw the poster and it fell into place.

Kangaroos are a tough team but we need a percentage booster.

We need to completely smash them anything less will be disappointing.

I wouldn't say tough. Those days are long gone.

I have no questions in relation to Setanta's ability to play the game but he has no exemptions in terms of needing to perform to stay in the team. Most of us love the bloke but his last 3 games have been patchy at best and the pressure is well and truly on as there is competition for spots.
We saw Thornton do things (kick two goals) that we have not seen before and Henderson has been in the best since he has been dropped.
He needs to lift along with a few other players if they want to maintain there spot in the team. It is the harsh reality of being a good team.

..ppl keep using goals kicked as the one defining factor of a forwards output.. ..Setanta has charged up to the 50 on numerous occasions, marking cleaning and playing on instantly to square up the ball to another forward or a mid streaming forward.. ..he's done this numerous times this season.. ..he'll need to play a few quiet games to be dropped i reckon..

Lets not forget the strength of the opposition in the VFL might count against some of the performances that occurred out at Visy. Men against boys.

Another factor to consider for our depth is that now that the halfway mark of the year has concluded, we can now nominate another rookie to be able to play senior games. Wonder who'll get that honour?

For mine, Armfield for Browne would be the only change at this point.

A bit up in the air maybe?
The good thing is..you'll be closer to the big guy,and you can say a few prayers for the boys.

Waite in the clear

AFL Website

Quote:
The match day report laid against Carlton’s Jarrad Waite for engaging in rough conduct against Melbourne’s Matthew Bate from Saturday’s match was assessed. The panel said that the ball was kicked out of the Carlton backline and Waite had left the ground in an attempt to mark the ball, with his arms outstretched for the ball and his eyes on the ball. The marking contest was intercepted by Bate and contact was made by Waite to Bate. The panel said that the contact made was inevitable and was not deemed to be reportable. No further action was taken.

And the maggot gave him 50m as well

To my mind Setanta looked tired on the weekend. His work rate these first 11 rounds had been phenomenal and it appears to me that it was begining to take its toll. I reckon he might get a rest this weekend, freshen up for Freo.

Thought we smashed North last year, went onto Blueseum to check and remembered we only beat them by 10 points. :garthp:
