On the fifth quarter, showed vision of quarter time of Robinson giving Eddie a couple of pushes to the chest and showing his anger because eddie was consolidating davey, great to see from a young player and shows that we are finally trying to be ruthless with our approach.

How does one consolidate another?

U could watch the replay for a replay of the win, and have a second unbiased look at the ruck duels while ur at it

How old is Jamar by the way ?
I would guess around 26/27 and starting to enter his peak years.
Luke Darcy was impressed and so was I with his tapwork. MK has a way to go regarding his strength when playing against mature ruckmen.

 How old is Kreuzer and Jacobs by the way? A long way from reaching their peak!

Why would a Carlton supporter bother watching the replay to marvel about a second rate Melbourne ruckman who has finally reached his peak when we have at the very least two young ruckmen almost as good who are much much younger?

Your priorities are all messed up, unless you prefer to watch Melbourne.

We were roughing up davey as teams made their way to their huddles and davey was getting well beaten. Davey had his head down and looked frustrated and eddie gave him a pat on the back and a rub of the head and robinson just told him that, that was not on.

Console?

I had very bad mental images about the consolidation!

I can watch both teams, this seems well within my brain's capabilities.

I'm sorry if you struggle with the task

Priorities are fine...and it's nice to know how our players are performing against their direct opponents.

Your brain function is the thing that appears all messed up dude if you can't watch or appreciate an opposition player at the same time as you watch the Blues.

As Synners used to say....."focus son focus"...u just might get it

If you enjoy your Jamar watching, just let it out. Most of us here couldn't give a ratt's toss what Jamar has done, will do, or ever does in the future. He's a knob. A complete waste of time and a non event until you brought him up after today's game.

Jamar. :screwy:

Jon Ralph tried to make a big thing of it, then after seeing the footage Luke Darcy showed some brains and to Ralph's face called it a pretty decent beatup on his part.

Jamar is lucky to be on an AFL list after years of mediocrity but he is playing great footy at the moment. He absolutely gave the big Kruez a bath today and Kruezer will learn a lot from it. Jamar outmuscled him at the stoppages and used he knees to knock him out of the way at most centre bounces. A good lesson for Kruezer.
Fortunately with a bit of extra bulk, Sammy Jacobs was able to compete and eventually gain the edge IMO.

As much as I was getting frustrated at Gibbs being dragged back into the defensive goal square, I hope Ratten is allowing it to teach Gibbs a lesson. He can play off his opponent too much when up the ground and it has the capacity to hurt when the opposition have a run on. It was almost comical in the 3rd quarter to see 3 of our defenders trying to be the loose man behind play and inevitably filling the same space which made 2 of them redundant. Melbourne started to get a run on by pushing numbers up around the ball and using the spare players to switch around our defenders. Sometimes when the opposition are on a roll, you need to be accountable and play one on one. That means more than picking up 45 cheapies against poor opposition.
We were probably fortunate that Brent Moloney likes to kick the ball to the opposition or it would have been a lot closer.

Looking at the positives, I thought Hoops we sensational and it's great to have a player up forward that you can rely on to convert. I thought Sauce took some big steps forward today although the conditions were tailor made for him. Walker was good and Jamo is Mr Dependable as usual. Waite was his usual self, some sensational efforts, sprinkled with some stupid ones. I though Robbo was great again. Yes he needs to get more of it and he can make the odd dumb decision but he sets a level of effort and desire for everyone else to aspire to. He's a must in my best 22 at the moment.

I noticed the stuff with Robbo and eddie at 1/2 time and I can understand Robbos frustration. Carlton went out there with a clear intention of putting certain Dees off their game and it worked with Davey. For eddie to show support to Davey was disappointing IMO. Show your support and care at the end of the game, not during it.

To have a solid win with a lot of players performing below their best was a good effort. We would have turned our toes up in that situation 2 years ago.

One hopes that there are no ongoing issues with that Davey/Eddie/Robinson incident and that it's addressed immediately this week and put to bed.

Melbourne have a 206cm giant in Max Gawn who was recently drafted so they'll be pushing him along to come in and help Jamar who has improved out of sight.

I'd rather be fifth but level on points with the Pies.

Agree Jamar was too physical for Kreuzer and by the second term Kreuzer was doing his best to avoid contact when contesting the ruck (not necessarily because he didn't like it) but Sauce was having none of that and won numerous free kicks off Jamar because he was able to stand his ground. I thought the ump missed a few as well.

Probably a question for any of the Melbourne people who might read this, but why aren't the Dee's playing a second ruckmen?

I know it was a wet day, but are their big blokes injured or something? I just would have thought that if you were developing a team for the future, why not a second ruck. It risks injuries to these non rucks as well who aren't used to the techniques involved.

I'm a bit bemused, but not for the first time in my life
They're just trying to justify why they'd take Watts instead of Natanui. Seriously...................................................................because their ruck division is so red f*cking hot. Just ask Mike Sheehan  Copped himself the money shot when writing the article in today's paper

Yep I read that Teaguey. One of the more contradictory pieces the Mikester has come out with. It seems all of our older players will be gone or on their last legs by 2012, but the Dee's oldies, most older than ours, will still be going strong :screwy:

I do agree with him that both teams have a lot to look forward too

Maybe just Maybe bcoz Jamar is rucking brilliantly ATM, and he has the tank to go most of the game.

Credit to Jamar his palming is top notch. He was too strong for MK today, Sauce held his ground better.

Even Sandilands gets help from Johnson and Bradley. I'm not sure Sylvia taking centre bounces is a long term solution for the Dee's  The Demons have a number of Ruck sized players on their list, so I was just wondering if it was a Hawthorn type situation due to injuries. Developmentally I just can't see the point of not getting games into their big blokes and actually seeing if they can play. This is not the year they challenge for a flag...surprising yet true

Didn't mean to start a spat over the rucks on the day by the way, but debate is good

I can remember a few seasons back watching the Crows thrash the Eagles despite being smashed in the ruck and the clearances, and despairing that I just couldn't see us ever having the rebound that Adelaide had on that day, but not anymore

I am just loving our rebound and we have Bower, Army and Lucas to come back in
