Surrey, unfortunately Waitey is absolutely gone. Will be lucky to get 2 weeks. I think Bateman got 3 for similar last week.

Have to agree. Hate to say it but he's gone for a few.

Abso-friggin-lutely.

Showing replays while play continues. Pure genius.

Yep. Bloody awful. Missed a Houlihan goal and Waitey's goal when he ran around and kicked it (I think, I was watching a replay at the time! :hitcomputer:

Page 69. You chose to bump and you hit the head you are in strife. Has nothing to do with the elbow tucked in or not.

what a fantastic fantastic performance by our boys..
the best thing about our team right now is that they just continue to surprise.. they continue to challenge supporters' damaged psyche, that reflexive pessimism which has engulfed our supporter base over the past 8 years.
things are changing.. we are turning it on when the game is in the balance, like the best carlton teams used to.. the ones i used to watch when i was in the age bracket of 9-16, the ones where every single week id go to the footy and think winning was a non negotiable..
were almost back at that level again...

I eish i could share your enthusiasm, 3 years ago he may have got off. The port bloke saw Waite coming and dropped his head, Waite was ready to poleaxe him fair and square. Unfortunate but the way the rules are written i'll be massively surprised if he didn't get a couple for that.

What's his record like?

I hear you there. Must admit I thought we were gone a few times today. Can't tell you how thrilled I am with the win. Brilliant stuff

There's no question we drop this game even last year.

Doesn't mean though we can't learn from the first 2.5 quarters, where it's fair to say we were 'off'.

Go Blues!

Play of the day.

Was in the 1st qtr when things were very flat.

AJ has possession deep in defence. Thinks attackingly and positively to kick into space on the wing to the advantage of a running JR who knocks it on to Eddie who delivers to CJo who goes inboard to Simmo who slots the goal.

Great attacking transition of play initiated by a maturing Aaron Joseph (who played a great game) which was rewarded with a goal.

Simpson, Armfield and Setanta were special.

Please Ratts, get Gibbsy into the centre. His handball in the last over the top of a pack to get us out of the congestion sums up were he should be playing.
Why was Casisi left untagged? He killed us. We were lucky that one of boys laid a big tackle on him, as his impact for the rest of the game was limited.

Simpson

Jacobs showed he is easily number 2. His ruckwork gets me hot.

Simpson

White and Thornton are the only players left that are not in our 22, I look forward to seeing them replaced with Bower and Walker and seeing a full stength side.

SIMPSON!!

I'm looking at 68-69, and that refers to a player bent over to reach for the ball, and an understanding that contact to the head in such a state is considered front-on contact rather than side on.

There's no question he contacted the face, but they were both upright, Jarrad made no motion to strike because his arm was tucked and the only thing that turned it into head high contact was his leap.

He'll more than likely do time, but it's a question of how the intent is assessed.

What we know is that he knocked down an opponent (striking offence was the report) and the contact was high (high/groin). According to this, he's looking at 325 points initially if his actions are considered reckless (tallies to a level 4 offence), in so far as he foresaw the consequences of his jump, or negligent (tallies to a level 3 offence), suggesting that it is not reasonable to assume his jump had foreseeable concerns in regards to his opponents head.

Either way it's an additional 10% because he was suspended for 1 week in 2008, and then 25% off with an early plea. So:

Reckless: 268 points and a 2 week suspension with an early plea, or risking 358 and 3 weeks if he goes to the tribunal.
Negligent: 186 points and a 1 week suspension with an early plea, or 248 and 2 weeks if he goes to the tribunal.

On the injury front, although the official injury list only had White and Lucas, Ratts did mention Houla and his hammy

Great win today...

Especially good seing as we looked almost gone on a few occasions when we went 3 goals down in the 2nd and 3rd quarters..

Setanta... well, what more can you say about the big fella... THE MOST IMPROVED key forward in the competition this year.

FEV WHO ?????

Me

I posted the top4 scenario with the dons getting up in the pre match thread.

However I'd banked on us getting enough % to get of the dogs. Missed out by .1

The month ahead looks a lot easier than the month passed though!
