Collingwood have those 3 game memberships which they include in their official tally, and I'm pretty certain Hawthorn have pet memberships, where you can sign up your goldfish

Hawthorn also have a big push into Tassie and have at least 2000 members from here as a result. They come here to do kids' camps and baby-kissing exercises. They play here. They market here. They have members here. Carlton, on the other hand, stopped sending decent delegations here during the Elliot/Parkin era. Last year they had a function in the middle of nowhere that cost a fortune to attend. Despite the pleas and groans of disappointment from a few very dedicated people down here, the club has managed to alienate supporters by ignoring them and then allowing Hawtorn and St Kilda to sieze the initiative. My grandaughter (Bellerive Primary School) went on a school excursion through Bellerive Oval and left there with a fistful of Hawks marketing material, stickers and the like. They don't even bloody well play at Bellerive.
I have complained to the club about the website and offered to write stuff for them during the dry season but didn't even get a reply. If the club spent as much time keeping us informed as they do sending repeat emails to remind us they need our membership renewals, we would have more members and less stuff in our inboxes. The reality of AFL clubs, including our own, is that they see members as cash cows. For years the corporate dollar has been more important than individual members, which is why I can get a GF ticket for myself and my family and my friends and their friends if I am reasonably placed with Hyundai, Spicers, Mission Foods, QBE, etc but not if I have been a member for twenty or thirty years unless I win a ticket lottery, a prize on TV, pay for a gold and diamond studded life membership or camp out for a few nights at the ticket venue just in case there are some left when I get to the front of the queue. It is also why corporate boxes were the main focus in all the then suburban ground re-developments and why almost an entire tier of the MCG and Docklands is behind glass.
Don't hold your breath waiting for it to improve. That's why I enjoy reading the training reports posted right here on TC, (even if they are 99% shit).
Must go. I have another reminder in my inbox to renew my membership.
