The thing about Sydney is they need a personality to drag their paininthearse supporters through the gate. An 18 yo kid who takes 4 years to develop won't cut it for them.

If ROK has said he wants to go home they might see it as the best way to get some value for him.

Roos doesn't give a shit about head-cases like Fev and Hall. Remember he traded for Spider?

Next to Fev for Judd trade I was hoping for, this is the next best option.

Fev not having a partner in crime is killing us. He needs a player like Josh Kennedy playing forward with him. Kennedy is a genuine forward, the two would have played few years together now knowing how each other play, where they are, work for each other.

I see we're still blaming Fev every time we lose a game, most of the people on this site are just as intelligent as Brett Ratten.

All i hear is his attitude was bad, he lets the team down bla bla bla. I would assume that all the people on this site have been watching football for a long time and know that a forwad is only as good as his midfield. Our midfield was smashed and when the ball is coming in slow, and bombed high in the forward 50 what do you expect from him. I dont hear you guys or the media complaining about Buddy or Roughead or even J.Brown when they dont kick goals. U should see the dirty looks or the sprays J.Brown gives his team mates when its not delivered right but when he does it its inspirational because he's J.Brown.

This topic is laughable

He had a player playing along side of him on Friday night and decided to poleaxe him instead.

Fev doesn't want a partner in crime, he wants to be the man.

He wants the adulation and the glory that comes with being the man.

Him cracking it, while annoying, didn't p*&* me off as much as him slamming into Carlos.

Inexcusable given that Carlos was playing and marking so well up until that point.

Ask ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about footy and they will tell you that. You think it's all about goals on the scorboard along side the name B.Fevola.

This is what Fev thinks too.

You both have little clue.

Problem with Fev is that he is old enough and experienced enough for it to be clear that he will never change. He will do the team things sometimes and when things don't go his way he will give up, stop and complain to the umpire, stop chasing etc. A test for any player, particularly a real talent, is how he goes when he is having a bad day, does he keep trying every minute to turn things around to make a contribution? Fev doesn't. He is very likeable, very talented but will never genuinely be a team sport guy. At Carlton, which tolerates whatever he wants to do, which clearly still has a weak culture amongst the experienced players, and appears to lack leadership and authority amongst the coaches he is in an environment where his laziness and selfishness is okay. I think at a number of other clubs, if he was the new guy stepping in, it may be easier to get him to be a team player more often.

I remember last year ag. the dogs - he was woeful in the first 2 and a half qtrs, then he starred in the last part of the game. Almost everyone on TC and CSC, and on our MC came out and said as long as he kicks goals it doesn't matter about the other stuff. With that attitude we will never win a flag. Clubs who tolerate players who periodically don't bother chasing, or doing the 1%s, and without a culture of doing those things, don't win flags.

Tony Lockett was as good a full forward as I've seen but never played in a flag. Ablett snr was as talented a player as there has been. He starred in one final series and was incredibly disappointing in 3 other final series. And they both played before forward pressure was as prevalent as now. Dunstall was great but not as talented as either, but far more valuable. He was a fantastic team man.

In 1981/2 one thing that distinguished the Blues was the forward pressure put on by Johnno and Buzz. Buzz was flamboyant egotistical etc but was also a magnificent tackler and did the hard things really well.

Sides don't win flags when individuals are allowed to not bother with the hard, unrewarding disciplines when you don't have the ball.

I love a lot about the Fev and he might kick 8 next week and we will all come back and hail him a hero, but we can't win a premiership if he doesn't do the team things every time. And when the MC and his team mates tolerate that, it undermines the whole team.

Swann sat in the box for that infamous Freeo game a few years back and demanded Fev be dropped, unfortunately his sulks are now 'managed' by being tolerated.

Ratten looks out of his depth when he 'manages' Fev by allowing him to do as he pleases.

With trading him we will be damned if we do and damned if we don't as he is a super talent. GC would be mad to get him, you wouldn't want him setting an example for all those young kids, but the Swans might bite and ROK certainly doesn't have Fev's brilliance but does have all that team stuff Fev can't be bothered with. One thing is for sure if we keep on winning and losing based on fev's moods we aren't going to progress and I suspect there'd be a few players who are getting very sick of his intermittent attitude.

Some will have seen the amusing Mr Sooky skit on Before The Game - not so funny if your club is seen as a joke because its star player is allowed to try whenever he chooses and the club just sits back and watches. At least Pagan occasionally dragged him or sent him to fullback.

PS So what you are saying WAG is that if the midfield isn't giving you silver service then you don't have to try very hard? Now there's a recipe for a premiership culture. I don't care if he doesn't kick bags every week, I do care when he stands back at FF while his opponent waltzes downfield with the ball and no-one chasing

We had, what, 6 inside 50s in the second half, two of which we scored goals from? And its Fev's fault we lost?

Our midfield went missing and the backs got swamped.

Most of Fevs best games are when he is the main or only focus up forward -

His poor performances are usually when we don't direct all traffic through him

He is simply incapable of working with another forward

how many more CHF / HFF do we need to burn before we realise this

Jonathan Brown gets a squillion one on one contests every week because he has Bradshaw alongside him.

It is very simple to understand - until Fevola has another key forward alongside him who demands respect from the opposition then he will continue to have 3 opponents on him unless we win every centre clearance.

So instead of relying on him why don't we try to find some alternatives key forward options.

The problem is there are no genuine alternatives on the list at the moment.

I saw Cameron Mooney play terribly yesterday even with the supply he got from Geelong's midfield yet we hear no criticism.

Fev cops it because he didn't chase but also because it's all or nothing...most times he has to kick a bag for us to win.

How pathetically unsustainable is that?

If we had other genuine options then we could afford to have Fev having his off days.

Mooney and Franklin can afford to have off days (Buddy quite a lot this year) because there are other options.

Who covers for Fev when he's having an off day? It's all or nothing.

Thats fine but Fevola chucks the sads when ever there is another forward who is just not a plain decoy - He was fine when Santy was just told to take his player away from the contest ala Brisbane game - but as soon as some ball was directed through him did he do the same NO. He belted fair square into the back of him and then most likely copped a spray from his fellow players - then chucked the sads all night afterwards .

It didn't work with Whitnal- Deluca - Waite - Wiggins - Cloke - Fisher - Setanta - They have tried Kruez and Hampson - and unless they are a total decoy he just plain spits it

I suppose trading fev will solve our problems??? who will kick our goals? fisher? cloke? wiggins? hartlett? edwards? Krooze? hang on let me guess, we should try Thornton up forward. GENIOUS :screwy:

Tell me oh wise one, what is the game about??? you cant win without a key forward. look at the dogs, they will never win and their team is way better than ours in every way you look at it except we have a key forward.

we love to hate fev when we lose, or he has a bad game but when he kicks a bag and wins game after game for us we chant his name, buy jumpers with number 25 on the back.

I would suggest to all carlton supporters who love to hate FEV to open your eyes and look further and deeper into the problems at the club. Bad coach, no game plan, no structure, NO CHANCE.

It did work with Waite against Collingwood. He is the only genuine option in that list.

Defenders actually have to worry about Waite because he has the mobility and marking ability to be a problem for defences. With him being out we have options who are inconsistent and don't really trouble the opposition.

Although Collingwood had a lot out, Fevola didn't kick a goal against them while Waite kicked 3. Fev led up the ground and made it less predictable.

It went too far against Adelaide the week after, however Waite did get injured early on.
