obvious concern is we get totally hammered, and some of the younguns get mentally scarred a little. Confidence came come and go when you're young.

BTW, in addition to the players from last week who are out of this week's game, you can add Carrazzo, Scotland and Warnock to that list. Half our best team won't be playing, with nearly all the key mids out except Stevens.

We'll have to play ultra defensive. It's gonna be ugly.

if we get with in 60 points in this game then mark that down as a win.

hate to say it but this could be a cricket score against us.

still we will get to see some kids get plenty of game time.

i expect big things from stevo, wiggo and hadley, showing a bit of leadership and experience.

but we will get a mother of a hidding i reckon.

wonder what the odds are for the cats by 100 plus?

sorry to sound so negative, just trying to be realistic here.

Good stuff. I dont really want to win this game. If we can with this team then good on us. I reckon the cats will be keen to throw it also.

Prepare for round 1.

you can add 1AW to that list aswell

Just for fun, i'll list the Ins for Geelong:

Gary Ablett
Matthew Scarlett
Joel Corey
Cameron Ling
Steven Johnson
Tom Hawkins
Tom Gillies

Who is out from geelong's side that is in their best 22???

So it's:

In - Kreuzer, Yarran, Browne, O'Keeffe, Pfeiffer, Edwards, Hill, Stanton

Out - Murphy, Gibbs, Judd, Simpson, Robinson, Fevola, Waite, Houlihan

I very much doubt we'll win... interested in seeing the line up though.

I'm thinking:

FB - Thornton Jamison Anderson
HB - Johnson Bower Armfield
C - Russell Hadley Browne
HF - Wiggins Kreuzer Yarran
FF - Garlett Cloke Betts

R - Jacobs Stevens Grigg

INT - Ellard Hampson Fisher Joseph Austin Edwards
Subs - O'Keeffe Pfeiffer

Pfeiffer as a sub as it's his first game back from injury. I suspect Stevens and Russell will get subbed out. If we're inside 4 goals I will be impressed because Geelong won't get out of second gear.

They'll rest three first tier players from that 29, and probably put another two as subs.

The half glass full people would be saying that the kids might just learn how much they need to improve to get to the level required. It just might be the catalyst to launch themselves into all things football.

I'm not too drawn into the whole "we will kill the kids confidence if they get smashed". It implies we are too fragile... If confidence is fleeting in the younger brigade, then surely it can be regained after a heavy loss just as much as it can be lost after a big victory.

Didn't we smash Sydney by over 100 points in a NAB game and they went onto finish top 4 while we finished 15th?

If anything, it may even provide motivation for the kids, a reality check if you like.. or even better, they are motivated right now to prove themselves against the best team in the comp.

See i think the complete opposite.

I wanna see how our young guys can handle the task. Why not give the kids a crack and see what they are made out of, they might get on top or break even and at the end of the day you can always use the excuse 'it was just a practice match'

I agree this could get ugly.

But it will give us a chance to see how some kids go under pressure. Those who stand up will prove they really have something.

It will be interesting to see how our forward line structures without Fev. I would like to see Kruezer at FF with 2 of Betts/Garlett/Yarren snapping at his feet.

At least we will be able to use the "we had our stars out" line :donk:

Look at them -No Mooney, Andrew Mackie, Joel Selwood, Corey Enright and Mark Blake
Not to mention Tom Harley

Give 5 goals start we will still run them over

Poor decision, we should have played a near full strength side without Judd and Fev, tested ourselves against the best, had we won we would have had a proper dress rehearsal in the nab final, lose and rest the majority of ommissions in WA next week. This way we are going to get flogged, this is not good for players confidence, membership etc. To top it off we have to go to Bunbury next week to play on a cow paddock and risk injury because of it, with what Ratts has already said will be a full squad/rehearsal prior to R1.

Poor decision from the match committee and it will probably come back to hurt us next week in the beautiful town of Bunbury!

Not happy at all! Will be fuming if we cop an injury to a key player next week due to the poor conditions in the outback!

Loving the team picked.

Who cares if we get beaten, as long as the boys put in 100% they will learn so much from the game.

AJ on Ablett/Chapman is what I'm waiting to see.

Yarran will hopefully have decent game time.

It will be good to see how O'Keefe is progressing, Johnson and O'keefe sweeping off half back with raking left foot kicks

Our defence is probably stronger than it was against Geelong last year in the H&A, same goes for our rucks.

Hadley and Stevo will lead the way in the guts, will be a good workout for Hadley leading into Round 1 having a large portion of his game time in the guts.

So the game is already lost 24 hours before the ball is bounced... either way, by all accounts the "cow paddock" up in Bunbury is in great condition. Since when was the telstra dome the pinnacle of turf quality?

Saw mention of Scotto, Walks and Warnock but nothing re: Hartlett

Probably Bartel, too. I reckon that will keep it under 10 goals....

I'm particularly looking forward to seeing how Yarran and Hadley play. Nice to see Browne in the side.

Is Bannister injured??
