Yeah kk - I'm not sure what player said it - but 'selfish prick' was definitely heard from where I was sitting. At least one rookie will be smiling tonight - but the amount of time and man hours to deal with this and then review it and then patch it up and then get on with 'footy' will be draining.

And I still want an explanation from Ian Coutts. We can't cover this one up - it's out there in all its glory - so get on the front foot and do what you're paid for. It would literally take 3 and a half minutes to write up that statement - run it past Sticks and co for approval - and send it to the media...instead - it's being left out there to fester on SEN and then TV tonight.

We're a bit more professional than that these days don't you think?

Oh, and Setanta doesn't drink - so a coke and a smile is all I'd be hoping for....this is white line fever - he's not a bad character - he's just committed a very regrettable incident that will end his AFL aspirations. All that hard work has just gone up in smoke through one selfish, dog act that doesn't even belong in Belfast among 15 year old playing street soccer.

What are you talking about?

Ratts fronted media and said they have sent him home and they'll get together later on in the afternoon to deal with the matter then when im sure an announcement will be made.

And then you bang on about being professional then how bout you keep the 'over heard' comments to your self.

This aint no party
This aint no Disco
This aint no foolin' around.

Like Indie, I see alot of value in Setanta in the first 22, at least till one of the taller the kids take over his spot (in defense against the gorillas like the Hales, Morans etc).

The team is always bigger than the individual and that was a dogs act.

We can live without him. In fact, it will probably galvanise the team if we do delist him.

Time will tell what sentence he faces.

I can't see how he could decide to return to the club this afternoon/ ever...maybe to hear the decision this afternoon. I don't expect him back. Big embarrassment for him, so lets not make it an embarrassment for the club. Cut the ties.

He's no good to us now!!

Sad day....but they know we're serious and they know we're coming.

There has been a lot of talk about Setanta pinch hitting off the bench. Maybe no one explained what that meant to the poor Irish lad.

All joking aside he should never pull the jumper on again......even if it was a Cloke he hit.

Geeze.... Surely the big Irishman has to go... There's no way he can look his team mates in the eye again after such a dog act...

think he has a valid point - a communication manager should take responsibility for these things and step in immediately. It shouldnt take hours for a communication manager to communicate...

I really hope they don't take the Barry Hall Approach.

No rehab...not this time....he must go for Carlton to look 'Professional' as a club.

As for Coutts...I totally agree doc. He is meant to liase with the media, especially in critical situations.

Where is the :ignoreMelvey: thing on the left??? Mods??

Mate - you know very little - you keep proving that on this website time and time again...I hope Setanta gets the counseling he deserves...but the Carlton Football Club had a run through with this 'emergency - all hands on deck' during the Angwin fiasco and as a former Communications Manager - I fear they've dropped the ball pretty early in this one too. That's my opinion...I'm not asking you to agree with it.

i just got home, and i was there and i still cant believe what happened!! was just a little wrestle then all of the sudden setanta punched clokey in the face, cloke dropped to the ground and then setanta stood over him and then kicked him in the ribs!!! It was the biggest dog effort. Fev ran over to setanta and grabbed him and pushed him, im assuming he told him where to go!! then stevo told him to piss off the ground!! was unbelievable, no one at the ground could believe. It was a fukin dog effort and he should be on the first plane back to ireland!!

Those at the ground were having a good day too - because before the 'incident' you could hear the thoughts of 15 AFL coaches thinking 'How the hell did our recruiting staff let this Robinson kid slip to pick 40!!"

The kid is a gem....but thanks to the O'hAilpin brain snap - his BOG (by a long way I might add), will go largely unnoticed.

Think Robbo ended up kickng 4 too, but the Setanta incident certainly put a dampener on my day.

I think the docs argument and example statement would have been appropriate given the circumstances

I don't agree with it and you are being far to precious.

It happened all to quickly and Ratts stepped up to the plate and dealt with the matter by speaking to the media. WHAT MORE TO YOU BLOODY WANT!!!!

One bloke hit another in a intra club match. You can not compare this incident with the Angwin situation

I can see why you now why a former Communications manager.

I think the comms department at carlton is one of the things which needs an uprade pretty badly. It would be a shame to move Coutts on, but if he's not doing the job properly, then we can't have any passengers off field as well as on.

I haven't seen the footage yet, but I'm reading that Cloke may have thrown the first punch. Would this be the difference between "Go in the corner and think about what you've done" and "Get the @#$%&! out of my country"? @#$%&!, I hope not.
