Of course I can.

But public holidays that mean nothing to me (Good Friday, Queens Birthday, Christmas) I'd rather work through and have as extra annual leave days.

I don't get what's so hard to understand?

I agree. It shouldn't be too hard to have people work on Public Holidays and get a day in lieu. Would cost most employers less than penalty rates.

I just wanted to make sure that I understood what you were saying.

Heaven forbid, that people get jumped on for misunderstanding the written word.

Penalty rates? I gave those up when I became a contractor

Seems like a pretty comprehensive "Yes" to Good Friday Football, at least amongst the footy tragics that visit here :-D

NORTH Melbourne has floated the idea of a Good Friday showcase game as one way for the AFL to soften the financial blow of the club backing out of their Gold Coast deal.

While Arocca said the club had yet to discuss the Good Friday concept with the league, he believed that using it to promote a charitable cause could decrease opposition to the idea.

"Certainly if there's a Good Friday match being talked about, we think we want to be the first in line and it's time to allow other clubs to build up a little bit of tradition about a game," he said.

"I would think a Good Friday match between North Melbourne and Carlton, the two closest football clubs to the Royal Children's Hospital, just seems to fit from a synergy point of view.

I quite like Arocca. I bet the IQ of the Pies brain trust has plummeted severely since both and Swann left.

Good Friday, but only with a good cause in mind, and none of this rattling tins outside the ground bullshit. I don't want it as a money spinner, for us OR North. Donate a percentage of the gate to the Childrens, and (maybe rattle some times outside the ground bullshit)

I like how were constantly being linked by clubs to play in the good friday match. No doubt Swann and co. would be pushing the idea aswell.

It will happen eventually so the sooner the better in my opinion.

I reckon Carlton vs Richmond would be better than North though.

Can't wait for us to own Good Friday football. Would much rather play Richmond than Norf though - pretty hard to own a game when you're playing a team that struggle to draw a big crowd and probably won't exist in five years.

Apart from the Royal Children's Hospital factor, I agree with you.

I think making this a tie in with the Good Friday Appeal is the way to win over community support. Plus, I'm sure Jabba would like the PR spin of getting his mug in frame as a tidy cheque is handed over to the kiddies.

If we lose Good Friday to those arse bandits then there should be hell to pay. ANZAC day, Queen's B'Day.......plus they want Good Friday!

Collingwood can go flower themselves.

Even if we don't get it, Collingwood shouldn't be involved. The draw contains enough inequities as it is without giving the Pies every stand alone match. The other clubs would riot at this.

I don't mind Carlton v Nth, I've thought for a while they should get some kind of reward for their early work with Friday night football. Of course Carlton v Richmond would draw a bigger crowd, but it would be good to get a smaller club some national profile.

I reckon we need to support Richmonds centenary match this season and help them get the 100k they're aiming for and make sure the AFL know that Carlton and Richmond want to play on Good Friday. 100k Crowd at the G would almost lock it in you would think.

Nah, North are fine, it doesn't matter which teams play on Good Friday, you'll still get a crowd of 90,000+

Don't tell Eddie that - he seems to think that ANZAC Day is all about the Filth and Scum supporters coming to the game en masse. :garthp:

I agree with Eddie  with the condition you could substitute in another couple of teams and still draw the big crowd.

I just find it interesting the kk now thinks North Melbourne aren't big enough to play on Good Friday.
