How many grass roots footy supporters can afford to fly Emirates or buy a Lexus?

Zing!

I bet there are not too many Pies supporters who drive or can genuinely aspire to drive a Lexus.

Melvey, the Pies can paint a turd any colour they like, they can dress it up and surround it with glamour as much as they like, but at the end of the day it will always be a turd.

where is this so called 'massive'.....????

where is this so called 'the training facility of all training facilities'....?????

some of you come on here boasting about this so called 'massive' sponsorship, about a training facility bigger and better than the lexus centre that will make the lexus centre look like a dumping ground.... WHERE THE BLOODY HELL IS IT!!!!

arrogance landed the club into big trouble, some how its crept back when and we have yet to prove anything yet.

people bagging the tigers about there dick smith sponsorship..... HYUNDAI!!!!

why cant everyone shut up and let the team do the talking, go about it in a quiet manor and boast when it is deserved.

Let's face it, 12 months ago ANY new sponsorship deal would've been cause for celebration, so this is certainly a step in the right direction. Unless, however, our Korean friends are tipping in hugely unprecedented amounts of cash (and other value-added bits and pieces), then I'm not sure this announcement can be deemed 'massive'. Still, good to have Hyundai's support, and let's hope this turns out to be fruitful for both parties.

I think we're all aware that the Visy money is flowing in anyway, so the shorts sponsorship is neither here nor there, really - one can imagine that's money the club would've received in any case, but merely formalised in the form of a shorts sponsorship deal. Again, though, this is money we wouldn't have had pre-Pratt, so good news. The only downside is the visual link to a now-tarnished brand.

Can anyone confirm whether Optus has signed a new deal, or are merely playing out the last year of their existing contract? Will be interesting to see what happens in 12 months time if the latter is the case.

General Motors announced the loss, not Holden (who haven't been GM-H) for some time).

Holden is travelling nicely, as far as I'm aware, and is isolated somewhat from GM's problems.

Cool, only reason I knew of it was people are worried in Adelaide about job losses in Holden due to GM's issues.

When GM reorganised their staff structures in USA a few years ago, the result was that some US senior/middle level managers were redeployed internationally to some of the global GM businesses, including GM in Australia. I have one friend in the Engineering department who commented that this has resulted in issues related to lack of awareness of/familiarity with smaller vehicle technology in many of the relocated managers.

I don't give a flying @#$%&! who the sponsor is.

$2.5 million a year is $2.5 million a year.

It could be squeezed out of the rotting anus of a chicken with leprosy and it'd still buy the same amount of gym equipment, training facilities, etc etc.

So a mere 12 months into a total club-rebuild, and we haven't yet caught up with the AFL's leading off-field power, Collingwood?

BOO-FRICKING-HOO. WOE IS US. WE'RE DOOMED.

Seriously, there's just no pleasing some people.

Please tell me you are not serious.

Lexus = Toyota

Just because you re-brand something does not make you automatically more pretigious.

You ever heard of construction worker shortage? You want to build a training facility that good in a couple of months?

You ever had to deal with Council and other statutory authorities?

Stick to the camera at 9 Melvey.

Look, Emirates is supposedly the no.1 airline in the world right? well if that;s true, then why does everyone who flies Emirates tell me the airlines sucks? It's the same thing as someone telling me Korean car manufactures are now right up there? It's all about perception.

And in any event, have we ever been sponsored by the best companies? AVCO? Hyundai? Mayne? Pfft, who cares how luxurious or first class our sponsor is, what matters is we have some serious coin in the bank for the next 3 yars.

I personally wouldn't consider a Hyundai because there's nothing in their range that appeals to me, but to downplay the sponsorship simply because they're made in Korea is ridiculous.

Kinda hard for the team to 'do the talking' when the season is over.

And again I ask the question, do you want to give the money back?
