We are not trading pick 1 & 3 for players. No chance.

Although I would definitely take a trade of Pick 1 for 2 & 7... would never happen though. We would pick up Cotchin, Morton and McEvoy then.

It will be that much more satisfying when we win a premiership(s) with our home grown talent. Judd will always be known as the premiership captain of the eagles. He'll never feel like a true Carlton man. Footy isn't just about the end result, its how you get there. Ask Danny, he has the right perspective.

Keep the picks, do it the right way.

I disagree. Success is not greater success because we recruited from outside of the draft. Premiership #16 wasn't less better than Premiership #15 because we had 8 retreads in the team. Success will be wonderful in whatever form it takes place.

I just don't have this mystical belief that we are building the next glory era. If we can win 1 premiership then we are doing wonderfully well because all teams are planning to improve and planning to win. This is a cut throat competition and there are uneven advantages the whole way along. Whatever we need to do to make inroads to the top 4 in 2010 or so, then so be it. We have come from miles behind and we need to exploit whatever advantage we have.

Regardless of how we get there, we'll have gone the very long, very hard road and the story isn't any better or worse if we happen to trade for someone considered the difference.

How many of the players in premiership #16 were premiership players at another club? Zero! Hence they will always be known as Carlton premiership players.

It may not matter to you, but it certainly matters to me how we get there.

Assessment of potential Carlton players shouldn't include whether they've played in a premiership with someone else - it should be about age, fitness, skill, height, whether they're any good or not...

To me, romance in footy died years ago!

Molsey surely thats not the case? Do you still go to the footy? Do you still care if your team wins or losses? If the answer is yes, then the romance is still there. Because you're not the one putting the boots on and playing the game. You're living emotions through the actions of other human beings. You may not call it romance, but its a feeling that you clearly value a lot.

I'd rather have a Judd and Brown with 100% of their careers in front of them. So give me pick 1 with Kruezer and pick 3 with Morton and I'll be happy. At this stage Judd has 2/3 of his career left (hopefully) on a dodgy groin and Brown has 1/2 of his career left. Sorry, but that just doesn't compare to 100% of the career of two gun kids.

Judd was recruited with dodgy shoulders too...

Things can be done.

We didn't care about a couple of retreads like Pearce and Diesel kicking 9 between them in 1995...

I have been thinking the same thing about Judd...
He might never reach the same heights again, even at his age.

Keep pick 1 + 3 at all costs, and grow our own one club players.

Juss might have 100 or 150 games left in him
One thng about the real champions ho have been in flag winning flag contesting sides they dont have much left.

Remember our sides from the late 70s?
Harmes
Buckley
Sheldon
Marcou

etc..

All gone by their late 20s.

There are blokes who go hammer and tong (like Judd) and there are blokes who look after themselves out there....

Judds done it hard... his power and explosiveness may be left behind pretty soon.

Its not like he gets around the park like Houla... hes full bore!!!

To me thats a worry....

I want players with everything in front of them.

And i dont want one bloke sucking up a huge part of the salary cap.
We will pay ver the odds for a guy like Judd... to get him and then paying him.

And he IS one of my very favourite players.....

I see what you mean Synbad. You are probably right but you have to factor in the improvement of gibbs murphy walker and co if they were playing along side Judd. I reckon he is worth a contract just for that.
Write out our team on a bit of paper and then throw Judd in the middle.
All of a sudden we look like a professional unit that really means business.

If we can get him id take him. If it meant trading fev who has the same fitness problems as Judd id do it also.

Can't just base it on that - have to base it on how the problem affects their respective impact on the game. Judd's brilliance is based upon his ability to have lightning speed to run through packs at clearances, which is obviously severely hampered by his current injury. With that out of his armoury, he really comes back to the field as his disposal isn't always that crash hot.

With Fev, his injury when its affecting him also affects his speed on the lead, but he's shown that he can find otherwise to get his marks and shots at goal with body on body work and just getting into space.

With the same injury, I'd take Fev every day of the week.

Judd has been bleeding our club dry for years now!

HE MUST GO!
