Is one of the backers of this a prominent member of another football club?
Was or still may be involved at board level?

Sounds like a great deal for the club, however i do have one concern.
With some board members having an "interest" in the deal, does that mean that they may expect a seat on the board indefinately,or if they loose their seat will that affect their involvement :?:

Just a thought :)

Im not privy to the deal Mark J, but according to the papers (the AFR was good on Monday) the Carlton-related people putting the money in are co-investors. Basically, the Carlton-related people putting the money in to make the deal work has given the CFC some form of carried interest.

Not sure if there are any pre-emptive rights on each other's interests, or minimum holding periods for the business, but it would seem each interest is separate.

Unlike the election-related financial announcements, this all appears pretty comfortable and well set-up. Under the professional management we currently have I think we should be relaxed on things like this. I can't wait to see the 2007 Annual Report :-D

At least they'll be able to feed our coffers....little do they know when they celebrate a win or drown their sorrows after a loss they will go to the Croydon for a few....

I gotta admit I love the idea of opposition supporters putting money into our club. Although the filth have their own establishment 5 minutes up the road.

Templestowe Hotel is not far from my place.

Oh well ... next time I am there and debating whether to have "just one more" it will be an easier decision knowing I am helping the club.

Go Blues

I've just been away for about 5 days.

I get back, and I find that this thread is only up to page 4, and that talk of Whitnall's injury is up to page seven or eight.

C'mon people! This is HUGE news!!!

This hotel deal is the best thing to happen to this footy club (other than Pratt's Presidency) in a long, long, long, long time. This is the deal which will get us back on our feet, and this is the deal which will see us able to compete with the Big Boys in terms of resources on a permanenet basis.

I reckon last weekend was the best weekend the Club as a whole has enjoyed in many moons. Overlook the on-field performance (that's short-term stuff), and consider that we managed to bag a heap of off-field revenue, we managed to break our membership record, and we managed to tie up Walks and JK to new contracts.

Forget about Lance's knee, Denis's coaching, Ackland's softness, and Saddington's defensive efforts because we won't be talking about any of that sort of stuff next year (or the year after at a push). The big news from the past week is that we have cash, we have members, and we have promising young players that have committed their futures to us.

Fair dinkum... go around town, and tell everyone how happy you are to be a fan of the Navy Blue... yell it from the roof tops, because we might not quite be back, but by gee we are making sure that we are putting ourselves a long way down the track.

And tell your Hawthorn mates... you can have that 100 point thrashing, because in a few years' time you won't be seeing us for dust (either on the field or off the field).

Get the passion back people, start to believe, because the Navy Blue train is sure as hell coming to life. Make sure you are on the wagon. I bl00dy well am!

And full credit to everyone who was involved with this deal... your actions speak so much louder than words possibly could. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Yes that is a problem.
Id like to know from those people if they would continue their generous contribution to the club via the portfolio if theyre not on the board.

I know when Mathieson does it its without those strings attached.

Coming up soon!!!

Oh just another thing.
Pratt???

The man is a magnet for money....

The amount of stuff going on behind the scenes with both him and Swann and the board is unbelievable and so far its only the tip of the iceberg..
So full marks to all those working ahrd behind the scenes.

The best part of the deal is that we can now file a police report against Demetrispew for raping us all these years, because we don't need him or the AFL's money anymore!!!!! GO PRATT
