Happier Danny, but not happy.
I've been on this one for a long time. If we get a clear, not negotiable rebuilding process in place which is fully transparent to all, I'll be happy.

Then I'll turn my efforts back to the board.

DB you would think changing the coach would make the Board look good, so not sure if the power behind the scenes would be trying to make the Board look good only to try and oust them later on.

Has anyone else noticed that the CFC is resembling Days of Our Lives?

Is it wrong to feel excited about a coach being sacked and seeing a new coach put in place?

I was a big fan of Denis in his first few years but, like many of you, he has lost me over the past two seasons.

Why isn't TC's own roving reporters TSS down at MC Hammer Oval giving us the live streaming video?

Regardless it could backfire, plus there's also a question mark over the depth of his tactical nous at the moment.

You're seriously questioning Mitchells tactical nous when you've previously defended Pagans?
You're a bag of laughs Jimbob!

One has a track record, the other doesn't.

Do you have evidence to show me Mitchell employing anything other than the one game style? Pagan may not be doing another one effectively at the moment, but he's at least having a plug.

Pagan may well be a fading (or faded) star in the coaching caper, but Mitchell is not what I would label a well-rounded coach. The more I think about his only evident game plan and those who underpin it, the more I worry about Mitchell's ability to be a long-term coach if he were to start in the coming season.

This is my main concern with the idea of moving Pagan on, the lack of genuine contenders to be his replacement, unless of course you all enjoy the idea of knocking down and rebuilding the football department every four years.

Because we don't want to get knocked out trying to interview Pagan after he's been given the sack.

If you don't go to the market place to find a new coach it is.

I agree.

If what Josh has claimed is true, then I hope we interview Longmire, and any other candidate, thoroughly.

Do you think it is possible for a coach to stick to a not negotiable rebuilding process when we have a board switching and swapping positions all the time? I just don't see how it can be done with this board in place.

In my opinion the board are banking on a honeymoon period by changing coaches. The best case scenario I see for next year is the new coach sticks to a development plan for the youth, but that will more than likely involve losing games - and I don't trust this board to sit back and patiently wait for the wheel to turn and the plan to come to fruition. I'm worried they will start panicking and pressuring the coach for wins ahead of development.

And that's what worries me the most. I'm happy for us to replace Pagan, but if this board are looking for instant success on field....well I worry about the actions they will take out of desperation.

Some would argue that would make you the most intelligent being in the room behind Mike Fitzpatrick.

What evident game plan?
Care to elaborate on it?

I think the entire process has to be completely transparent to our declining membership. We've just taken a $2 million loan from the AFL and are about to give $1.2 mill of it to someone to leave. To have Mitchell appointed without knowing anything about who else was interviewed, to me reinforces the impression that we are a desperate rabble with no plan, whereas something that is communicated clearly to members, i.e we've spoken to A,B,C and D and decided that Barry Mitchell is the best gives me a lot more confidence. I'm not saying he's not the best person for the job, but it appears he's favored for it as much for his cheap price tag, and friendship with Kernahan and Gleeson, as for his coaching ability.

Well Said AK.

Mitchell is a good coach, don't worry about that. He was coaching high school teams when he was still playing so it's not like he is new to the caper. He has worked his way up through the system and his results this season in the VFL speak for themself. I know it's a it's a big jump to the AFL but I'm confident he can help bring some good results our way.
