What happened to how we used to target certain opposition players? Those games when we gave Sicily (we won), Maynard (we won) and Mills (we won) should've paved the way forward, but it all seems to have been forgotten. I don't know why Bolts insists on sticking by 'the system' when the system is clearly shithouse.

The "system" was fine halfway through the last quarter against one of the flag favourites a week earlier. There's no coach anywhere who could come up with a "system" that would work in the face of such a pathetic lack of effort and pride from the people who have to actually play the game.

Special Assistance Rule - 19.2:

At the conclusion of the Home and Away matches in each Football Year, the Commission may determine in its absolute discretion that a club is entitled to one or more priority selections at the next occurring National Draft Selection meeting. Such right to one or more priority draft selections shall be exercisable during the Draft as directed by the Commission.

If the AFL were a mature, consistent organisation with integrity, (ho-ho-ho), then they would be creating a serious rod for their backs with their treatment of Carlton. Essentially we are setting the benchmark for how poor your performance needs to be to get decent assistance. Sadly our record over the past few years is diabolical. The AFL has said though that it's not bad enough to justify priority picks and the like.

Theoretically this standard should apply to all clubs in the future. I suspect though, (excuse the cynicism), that should someone else have such a bad run they will get special assistance and the AFL will simply acknowledge that they were too unsupportive of Carlton in the past and have learnt from that mistake.

I would have finished with the “roll eyes” emoji.

If we take a similar shellacking with a similar effort against St.kilda he is surely gone. Can only take so much.

A caretaker would come in just in time for us to play Essendon*....hehehe.

The HUN is having a field day:

"Life after Bolton: Who else could coach Blues?"

"Blues President: Why I won't sack coach"

"Blues powerbrokers rule out board challenge"

I have read them.
Sam Edmund wrote a good one about the club losing a generation of supporters.
He wrote about his 7 year old son wanting to barrack for a good team and asking why we are so bad.
It is true, kids get teased for wearing a Carlton jumper at the moment.
The other articles were to be expected after such a disgraceful performance on Sunday.

Carlton Blues indeed.

Well if you told a prospective new coach they would get 4 years at least no matter what, I think that is quite reasonable

Duke has categorically stated he could win more than one game for the balance of the year. FROM HIS COUCH.

I say no beating on the drums like the cheer squad, just give him the job already.

For that analogy to work you need every other club to appoint coaches that nobody likes.

From a first time poster on Big Footy called 'don't shoot the messenger ' Post No.1

Mail regarding our coach being extremely stubborn:
- hiring nuffie assistants so he can have supreme say
- concerns around them being hired based more upon lower seniority and won't white ant him for the job
- this is the reason walls was brought in and BB was not happy
- players like him but lack respect and are annoyed about the boundary line game plan
- kennedy should not have liked that post

Then Post No.2 (his response to posters who gave him a good pasting)

It wasn't a very nice reception. All I did was pass on some information I had. It was 100% true. In fact I toned it down as not to offend the sensibilities of some of the community here. I thought that some may be interested. Kennedy's initial punishment was 6 weeks. They kept it quiet for obvious reasons.

As for the the other points raised, I applaud their loyalty and dogmatism, but I wouldn't be assuming that their IQ's are higher. Quite the opposite really, the funniest part is that their Left Wing ideology in no way aligns with the Carlton Football Club.

One last question I would ask them, how many games have any of them played for the Carlton Football Club? I'd say it's less than me.

No more rumours I'm afraid, I don't need the character assassination for bringing some inside mail.

There are some blind worshippers of Bolton over at Big Footy.

Say a few things contrary to their beliefs results in a thread ban :banghead:

Some of the blind worshippers simply attribute Sunday's loss to youth, youth and nothing but the youth. It will all work itself out, nothing to do with Bolton, it is the youth.

Youth is a part of the reason, but not the full reason. Bolton was incompetent on Sunday. He selection, his player positioning, his lack of stemming the flow are great cause for concern.

Thrashings do the club no good.
I repeat, thrashings only do harm, no good.

Throwing a bunch of skinny babies in against full grown men will result in what we saw Sunday.

Read this report from SkyhorseTamer, and tell me Bolton ain't a big part of the problem:

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/ ... t-60979201

Quote:
They (GWS) knew how we'd line up exactly and exposed us. With one of the assistant coaches saying they spent all week focussing internally as Carlton's lineup and gameplan was overly predictable. They know they're a running team so they could go man on man and not worry.

The midfield setup hardly changed all game

Our MC didn't pick that team with a win in mind. Macreadie was blowing up after trailing his opponent on a lead in the first quarter. I think it was an 'exposure' game.

The zone was awful to watch, our midfield setup is really average defensively

Ever since Neil Craig left I have been very unimpressed with Bolton.
I don't believe he is the man.
I hate having to replace a coach, but come the end of the year we should replace Bolton.

Things that can't be said at BigFooty.

Nuffy assistants?
Dale Amos was very highly rated at the Cats and we pinched him. FWIW, I think he's a sensational line couch.
It sounds like bullshit to me.
