I must have missed the hidden message there? That said, not the best statement someone should give before a draft. Picking value to team needs to be put into its proper context when mentioned.

Talented & Capable > Talent >= Need

..it could go either way, but i actually read it the other way around, since some are saying that at our first pick McCarthy may not be as good as some mids/runners that are still available.. ..but if we're going for best fit for the club over best available, wouldn't that imply McCarthy..?.. ..or even possibly Gardiner if we think him a better KPD prospect than McCarthy as a KPF prospect, so we can lock in Hendo up fwd..

Perhaps Rogers was referring to looking at other aspects such as introvert/extrovert, leadership qualities which we've lacked, and just a basic desire to succeed that harks in particular has alluded to seems to be missing in some of our recent selections. (Lucas, Bootsma, McCarthy).

..who knows.. ..murphy was considered from the outset as captain material, now we're not so sure.. ..gibbs likewise talked up as future captain, and with every year he looks less and less likely.. ..then there's players like simmo and hendo that with every year seem more and more suitable.. ..kids are hard to 'gauge' and the intangibles even harder to measure, it's why our lack of development in all aspects [not just football ability] is holding us back..

..now, in regards to players that seem to lack the desire to realise their potential?, we've had our fair share of those.. ..poor leadership around the club is just as much to blame as the individual players in this regard too..

Lennon, Salem, and freeman all going before our pick, I can
see one of three players heading our way,
Matt crouch, Lewis Taylor or Blake acres.
Gardiner and McCarthy to risky in my opinion.
Pick 39, hopeful we land Darcy hourigan or Tom cutler.
Pick 51, hopeful we land nick Holman or Darcy Lang.
Rookie picks, Tippett, Mitch Harvey, Darcy fort and Chris Cain..

James Sicily is a name coming up more and more over the last

Been told we will take him at pick 39 if he is still there,
don't really know much about him,
