I would still have scholarship lists and a development squad, but any player recruited with the intention of them seeing playing time that season form and fitness permitting should be on the senior list.

So 48, then have scholarships and development squads for the category B & long shot international types. The veteran payments reward teams for having an aging list, which is completely arse backwards. If it's going to be retained as a reward for showing player loyalty, then it needs to be toned down further. For the average veteran that's a 20-30% exemption on their salary, which is more often than not is just going to get tacked on to ensure they stay with the club.

$110k per 10 year player is silly.

I don't think so in the age of Free Agency where players are offered big overs to leave their club.
Not too many players get to 10 years and are on $300 or less. And it's a massive reduction over the previous veterans list rules.

You need to make it so clubs hemorrhage their list when they pull in a Franklin-type signing, not so that they can weave around the initial costings with an aging list. :|

Not too many players make it to 10 years.
And Sydney have hemorrhaged players due to the Franklin signing, but none of their veterans. I don't have a problem with that.

Since Laidley probably left Saints to get away from Watters, not sure that would work. Like when we got Pagan a couple of years after getting McKernan. :donk:

The bible is a great pick up....
Will add experience for our midfield group,
especially on game day, very good technically....
Pick 13 should land us a quality midfielder for us..
With Thomas, docherty and pick 13, our mids are starting
to look like a competitive unit, graham should also gain
more games, which gives us another mid...
Hope mick and co can work on Watson, drop weight around the legs and,
get more strength in one on one contests..
If Watson can help out down back with Jamison and everitt,
give us the option to leave hendo up forward which is a must...
Still need to add another forward and defender at some stage...

Hopefully everitt frees up walker to play up forward.

I wonder if yaz will go to half back or stay forward now Eddie is gone.

Menzel should 22 games, starting as a forward.

thegezman,
Reckon yarran will go forward/wing..
Everitt will play half back which allows
walker to play half forward...
Forward line,
Walker Henderson Thomas
Garlett Waite menzel
Have Thomas half forward rotating with the other mids,
plus he knows where the goals are, good combo with menzel..
Yarran plays on the wing, he is quick and skillful..
We are starting to get some quality players in our team,
Docherty and tuohy down back, both quality ball users..
Hope graham can play some good footy, just adds another
option through the midfield..
Now bring on the draft, first pick will be a mid, but our second,
and third picks are the ones I am looking forward to seeing who
we pick up..

Not that I want Watters but I thought I read Brereton say that Laidley and Hutchinson were getting away from Pelchin but I could be wrong

Lucas can play, but just needs to hardener up...
Tackle and chase are the two issues to sort out...
Has speed and uses the ball well most times...
The kid has only played about 20 games, if he plays
50/60 games and still has the same issues, then the
problem will be, do we trade or delist him, and Lucas
May end up on the scrap heap, sure he understands this..
But he can play, like most young players, the word is
''Confidence'', I see him as a wing/half forward, not sure
if he can push into the midfield, hope he can though..
If Lucas can step up we can ''potentially'' have,
Lucas, docherty, graham, Thomas, murphy, Gibbs
Menzel and pick 13 who could run through the midfield,
Especially in the next few years we will lose players like,
Judd, carrazzo, Scotland and Simpson, lot of experience lost...
So players above need to step up..

For all the doom and gloom on here, I don't believe our list is that bad for next year.
I actually think it looks quite good.
