i know this goes against what i had posted few days back about Denis most likely to stay than not, but was told today that board members met with Swann & Sticks on friday and had gained board members approval for Denis to be paid out and not see out his contract in 08 but be given the option to see out the year. Expect an announcement either monday or tuesday.

and no this information did not come from the email doing the rounds at the moment.

Best news for a while. Please be right.

Well after todays performance it's looking more likely than not.

From what i was told a decision well actually board member approval was agreed on friday.

Putting two and two together i think all the scuttlebut that occurred friday arvo might have some thing to do with what i have been told.

We just going to have to wait and see but there is no doubt he will not be around, talk was that he had support from several board members and Swann.... the situation has changed now.

GO BLUES!!!!

Give us FACTS :!:

the facts are he is GAWN!!!!!

Denis ruffled a few feathers re the Fevola suspension. Not sure how, all i know is he lost the support some time round then and thats all i was told on saturday.

Fev will not be traded is what i came away thinking after speaking to this person.

He held one of the players responsible when Fev was caught at the casino in Perth boozing and not getting him back on time, rather than putting the blame on Fev himself. That's what I've heard anyway (the player's dad works with a friend of my dad's).

What a rumour mill this place has turned out to be. Probably all based on utter crap. Sorry guys but I'm sick of bullshit rumours ...for God's sake someone ...anyone ....give me something real.

We all know how the board had Pagan "almost" gone at the end of last year.

Well, we've seen how season 2007 has panned out with him in the driver's seat.

What are your thoughts on how we would be going this year if we had bitten the bullet and installed one of those that appeared to be the likely candidates at the time - Barry Mitchell, Stephen Silvagni or Brett Ratten?

I don't think that we would be too much better off, in terms of ladder position. But the team's competitiveness often comes down to how much the players respect the coach, or in other words, 'play for the coach'. And this respect is earned through good communication with his players, demonstration of good game strategy, and firm but fair discipline.

In terms of coaching strategy, I would imagine that Mitchell and Ratten have it over SOS. In terms of communication and discipline, who knows.

One thing's for sure though. We wouldn't be any worse off than where we are now.

To be honest, if anyone here can give you something real at this stage I'm worried about the club.

Re: Pagan's press conference

point 1 - need more players

"We need some more players," he said.

"If there was any magic wand we would have used it by now, but there's not. It's a long process," he said.

rebuttal - there is a magic wand - you just don't know how to use it - or you play players out of position. Why is Ackland in the team? why was Whitnall in the team until round 12 - surely it was obvious his injury/etc was obvious by round 3?

point 2 - re his belief that the club will survive longer than him

Pagan added: "It's not about me. It's about the Carlton footy club. I am insignificant in terms of the footy club."

I have my doubts on that - I doubt any club can survive 100 point thrashings week after week year after year. This club's very survival may be in jeopardy as a result of his coaching and kernahan's match committee skills.

My far fetched thought - way way out i know...but....

it is a crazy thought but perhaps he is trying to deliberately damage the Carlton footy club for some odd reason by coaching poorly/selecting ackland/holding back griggs/jackson etc in the reserves and playing old hacks week after week.

vengenance? anger? revenge? ... far fetched i know.. but hey crazier things have been done.

Btw today was yet another record for the Pagan era. It was Brisbane's highest score ever against us as the Lions (the Bears got more in the 96-SF) and their greatest winning margin against us, Bears or Lions. Those records keep stacking up.

Thanks Denis :)

P.S. Brown's 10 gls the highest ever kicked by a Brisbane player. The previous highest was 9 by bradshaw.

Thanks Heaps Denis...

Apparently Brisbane were the tenth side to kick their record score against Carlton since DP started coaching Carlton

One thing that worries me about the club is the power of Kernahan,he can do no wrong. He has been on the match commitee for years during our worst years maybe he is the problem. His backflips are ridiculous.I know for a fact that Swan was unable to solve the Mitchell/Pagan saga because of Pratt listening
to Kernahan.Kernahan and only him stopped Mitchell from getting the flick.Maybe he, Pagan and Mitchell should go and a new Chairman of the Match committee be appointed.Could we do any worse I doubt it
What do you think is he the problem
