This is 100% a placed story, and it's 100% from Melbourne's end. They floated trading Oliver in the media last year to see what the feeling was, and they're doing the same thing here.

If we don’t trade one of the big earners how do we manage a $5m 5 year contract?

Great player but I’d rather keep TDK and Harry

Never give up a Key forward....Mckay should be off limits. I am happy to give them L.Young though

i'm in the minority here ... but we have a generational full forward, who's even better. Charlie. we've all seen how much more mobile and how much better we move the ball when we go small. more run and carry. Charlie, Kemp, Moir, Fog, Elijah and durdin/motlop/owies is still a gun forwardline.

trac makes us flag favourites next year, and we could 3-peat with a guy like that. Cripps has probably another 2 years of solid footy in him. trac can go forward and kick 5 (like kouta) and his F50 entry is elite. wins his own ball, goes outside. he's the complete player.

our window is now, so i'm doing that trade 100%. i want to win flags, and trac does that, imo

Only because our coaches are stupid and can’t set up or teach the players how to play as a team

In the last 10 years how many big forwards have done the business on GF day?

I just can't see Harry doing that for us, what I can see is him going to water like he did in the Sydney final last year.

Get Petracca, find another stop gap 2nd KPF to assist Charlie.

Highly annoying that clubs don't have the power to just trade a player without their consent. I like Harry, but I like Petracca better. Get it done!!

i thought you were joking when you first told me that rule. it's wild in pro sports that it's an across the board thing in player contracts.

this is why teams take 5 or 10 years to rebuild their list and be competitive again. they should also increase the minimum age of the draft.

- players come in and have immediate impact. older, so drafting intel is much more accurate etc.

Maybe the Demons know that Petracca is cooked - wouldn't surprise me.

petracca isn't cooked. 28 years old, he's in his prime. petracca wants out of melbourne, not the other way around.

the internal injuries he had heal 100%.

I wondered the same. Except Clarry had way too many off field issues, different story here.

Last game we saw what happens when we don't have Harry or Charlie as our KPs.

Carroll in the goal square, Kempy as close as possible to Wilkie to spoil when ball is near, and Kennedy roaming the forwardline to create a link between mids and forwards. That went well.

That's exactly what happens if we only have Charlie and he is injured during the game, or misses because of injury.

Personally want both KPFs to remain as such, and if push comes to shove I'd keep Harry over Charlie; Harry being the better mark imo.

No to Lemmey. He hasn't proven anything yet.

I read in today's paper, Bec (Petraccas fiance) was told Petracca nearly died.
Also stated is that Petracca is still on the mend.

No one knows when he will heal, let alone if he's the same player ever again.

Too many unknowns to pretend nothing has changed.

There's a risk till we know there isn't, not the other way around.

Hawkins-Cameron 2022 kicked 5 goals between them.

I think we all agree Harry circa 2024 is a better version than the 2023 version, and his Coleman year 2021 was another good year from Harry. Its not all doom and gloom.

Stop gap KPFs were Kemp, Carroll, Kennedy last week. I hear Weideman is gettable, and Schache is available too; he's only 27yo. Ben Brown?
I wish it was as easy finding a stop gap.

Ben Brown retired. A pity, because we are crying out for a large and unbelievably soft cauliflower

Not AFL standard anymore. Soft.
Castlemaine want him.

KPDs and KPFs, good ones, don't grow on trees. Stop gaps are a bandaid. Bandaids come off.

Remember the year we drafted 3 KP's to cover our arse hoping one makes it: Watson, Mitchell, McCarthy?
None of them made it, but luckily we traded in Laidler from Geelong.

Fair deal. Plus the Dees pay half Petraccas salary.

Lemmey's our future Fwd-Ruck .... waiting game.

Rather than less tall forwards, I think we need better quality small forwards. A better forward coach could make a difference too.

I wish someone knew the answer.

I'm sure we need to upgrade our small forwards.
My fave is Durdin but he can't stay on the park.

Fog has changed my mind about defensive small forwards.
Thought never entered my mind.

I've always looked as a small forward as a dangerous quick opportunist who finds the goals
Motlop is slower than Kickett. Remember him? Swans, Sheedy dropped him for the GF. Big guts?
Besides, Owies is kicking all the goals we expect from Motlop's role.

how can we use our 2 gun forwards easy step 1 change that fuc.....game plan ,we need to inject some speed and quick ball movement (opposition cant set up ) and step 2 no more long bombs harry and charlie on lead who is going to beat them . moral of this story need to add quick mids into side

Was just talking about these 2 with some mates the other day. Pretty sure we debuted both in a final H&A round game against the saints in 2012. Took my kid to his first game. We got thrashed

Same as everyone else - with a significant increase in the TPP.
