He was very honest in that documentary.
It is bullshit to say he has a long history of poor off-field behaviour. His incidents are minor compared to a number running around the AFl, and have been few and far between.
He has never been charged with assault, and his most violent act was in Ireland and that was minor at the best.
The media love whipping up the fragile mentalities of the weak and exploiting it for all they can. To such an extent that people actually BELIEVE Fevola has had a dozen or so chances when in fact he has only one slightly major incident in his past.
you are right. he is by no means the worst. didak is quite clearly the worst (and he didn't miss a game). there are others who rate ahead of fevola on that scale.
that is not the point.
the point is what level of discipline do we require in our club? 6 months off, because you will recall we did not play finals, and less than a week before the first game of the new dawn, and in the midst of a scurrilous campaign to besmirch our club with the label cheat, he behaves like this.
It is simply not what i want from my team or my players. With this attitude, we simply will not win a flag. in fact, I reckon it will cost us a flag.
we had an opportunity to say unacceptable.
We blew it.
Instead we paid homage to the almighty god of talent. Those who have talent can do anything. Anything at all, and all will be forgiven.
Who will lay me odds that at the next alcohol fuelled incident (and there will be one) the club will not sack him, but rather some other excuse will be trotted out about how, he really just needs you know, more attention from his Mum or something.
I consider the whole episode appalling, from Club and player.
The lack of a suspension makes us look pathetic.
