We're playing one way or another next week, might as well be for 500k. Handy revenue for the club.

Norf have a good record at that ground, they'll be very competitive..

Depends who's trying and who isn't. I suspect Norf would want to make a NAB Cup GF more than the Cats

"At the game last night"
Being an older member, I often read TC with interest, but seldom write.

Backline - a number of players seriously out of form. Jamieson listed as one disposal, also made some bad errors and seemed to be always behind opponent Walker when the ball came in. Perhaps he and some of our other backs should adopt the old fashioned backmen ploy of stand slightly in front of the forward with elbow keeping contact on their jumper. Nick Duigan also seemed rather lost and Yarran needs to learn the basic skill of punching the ball away, rather than let his opponent take easy marks overhead.

Forwards: No player gave a strong marking presence and leads were often into the pocket, probably because our forward line was cluttered.

A 'gutsey' last quarter .

Remember when everyone used to bag McLean? Where are you now you dumb !@#$%&?

For the most part - it was justified. It was picked up every week in the video review that he didn't (or couldn't) get to repeat contests. His fitness levels have improved significantly, his ankle gives him less trouble and he's far less selfish a footballer than he was previously. He covers an enormous amount of ground and looks to be enjoying his footy. I don't hear anyone bagging him now because he's doing exactly what we wanted when we drafted him and gave up pick 11.

 I was one and at the time I believe I was right. I am more than happy to be proven wrong and glad I have been. Credit must be given to McLean plus I believe the game has changed to suit his style. The more players we have on our list pushing for senior selection the better.

So Pklz, did you think Brock was a great get for a first round pick 3 years ago when he was playing in the Bullants side? Did you think his form warranted retention in the seniors when he failed?

Come on..he didn't look fit enough or fast enough to warrant retention let alone a senior game.

It all turned around for him in the 2nd half of 2012...and I appreciated that because I was really excited when we signed him up, and felt a right royal fool for doing so when many Carlton fans believed at the time his best years were behind him.

Before the 2nd half of 2012 and his renaissance I don't know anyone who thought he was going to remain on the Carlton list in 2013.

Lets hope he stays fit for the remainder of the season. Great last quarter from Brock, but our midfielders, including Brock got smashed by the big bodied Crows midfielders in the first 3/4ers. They were first to the ball and won all the bullocking work in the centre bounces/ ball ups.

I'm a fan of the 3 ruckmen let alone 2 ruckmen if.........

They're all fit for AFL.....
They're all in top form....
2 of them can play a KF role...

But it must be all the above imo.

Really strange last night with the 3 rucks in humid conditions.

I feel Warnock is our best tap ruckman. I thought Warnock tried really hard last night and did a lot of hard work on the ground but just did not have a good night overall. Hammer was pretty good and played as expected, and did a few good things so he was ahead of Warnock last night and thus far in the preseason. Kreuzers bullocking work...and I'll call it midfield work because that's what he was doing when roving, shepherding and providing a link was really good.

None of the above hit the packs like Casboult.
None of the above mark as well as Casboult.
None of the above provide as many crumbing opportunities like Casboult.

Then there's Waite to consider as another auto selection for the forwardline when fit.

I'm over the 3 ruckmen option even if Kreuzer is selected to play as a ruck rover.

I thought there were a number of players that looked like they were running through glue. Robbo especially noticeable. But Walker, Murphy, Simpson, Laidler and even Jamo and Hendo all looked tired. I reckon a lot of the errors that gifted some of the crows goals were caused by player fatigue. Having said that, we ran the game out a lot better than the crows. I subscribe to the heavy training load. Lets not forget the boys trained in 35 degree heat Thursday before flying out to Adelaide. I am rapt with our pre-season and couldn't be happier with where we're at. Now hopefully North do us a favour and knock off Geelong and then our only concern is round 1 and beyond

Judd and Gibbs missing would not have changed the fact that Crows midfielders are too big and too strong in the stoppages/ centre bounce.

Thompson, Dangerfield stand out for everyone, but all their smalls have got solid bodies which are hard to move/budge/get in front of....as a result they killed us in the clearances in the first half...and if they were allowed to rotate as they will in the H & A they will not fade as they did last night towards the end of each quarter and last quarter.

Their smallest player is Petrenko who is a star, and made Yarran look skinny and small.

For that reason I like the idea of Hampson (or whoever) rucking to Kreuzer as their ruck rover. We have no one else imo who can move Scott Thomson the way he moved our small bodied mids...Carrazzo was the biggest mid we had last night and he was easily pushed aside by Scott Thomson and Dangerfield.

Kreuzer would not let them dominate us as they did. 6 Clearances and 11 possessions in the first quarter for Scott Thomson...say no more. Kreuzer would take away this trump card they hold over us. Hence why Kreuzer would make a useful mid.

Apart from a few good taps and 2 good marks, imo Kreuzer made his mark on the ground as a midfielder roving the ground ball, Shepherding like a ruck rover and linking like an outside mid. Did anyone else notice that?

As Doc knows, I've been a huge Duigan fan since his first preseason with us.
I love his aggression and size and ability to read the play.
Not really impressed with him last night...well haven't seen his best since 2011.

Couldn't hear his constructive talk on TV which may be the glue he provides the team and maybe that's what MM likes about him.
I didn't see much else from him.

Like Yarran, I don't like Duigan in our backline at the moment.

Well, if you were using your powers of judgement, you wouldn't be feeding the type of spite shown in
Pklz's post. It should be water under the bridge.

Do you have an update on the players on the Carlton list who have won us a premiership?

When do we find out when and where we play?
Last night they said a few times that Adelaide have now finished their NAB cup and wont play again until round 1.

So Yarran doesn't like Duigan there either?

Positives:
Hammer and McLean.
Don't think Curnow will play much, but he was pretty good.
Ran and competed hard to the end.

Negatives:
Crows scored goals far too easily.
We lost a game we should have won. Didn't convert the flood of opportunities well enough.
One-sided umpiring.
Would have liked to see Bell again at senior level. Especially against the physiologically enhanced Crow midfielders.

Good one Wookie.

While you're adjusting the audio, can you tinker with Hammer's radar? :yikes:

Cats in front by 16 points at half time. Wonder if Chris Scott will do his brother a favour & ease off...

I don't normally go on about the umpiring but there was one 'handball' from a Crows player, Vince I think, that a volleyball server would've been proud of. Play on.

I thought at the time it was Thompson, but remember it well
