Saturday morning 8.16am, Ratts and Sticks resigned yet? Or will they hang on 'till the end of the year? Last night had to be the final straw.
.

Nope they want the final straw to be flogging at the hands of our oldest rival.
Hawthorn don't get as much exposure as the pies and next Friday night will be embarrassing.

They wont resign ...

they love the club too much.

Lets see how much Ratten really loves this football club.

Does he love it more than the cash or not???

He would know where he is at with this group.

Personally i think for as much as the board backs him.... the north melbourne game is where the referee will step in and call a technical knockout

Sticks, you were the greatest on field leader this club has ever seen.

Please now show us you are a credible off field leader too by resigning now, or at least announce that you will be stepping down at the end of the year.

You've given it your best shot, and you've come up short - I'm sure that's not something you are not used to dealing with. But you must know in your heart what the best thing is for this club you love so much. You will always be a hero, but the longer you now stay, the more tarnished your status becomes. Just do it.

John Nicholls!!!!

The fact that people say Sticks shits me to tears.
He wasnt a patch on Nicholls.

Elliott elevated this guy to that kind of status to use him politically.

Frakensticks!!!

Give the guy break Im 47 and can hardly remember Big Nick
Lets just say Sticks was a great modern era leader

But if you ask me the best onfield leader I have seen at Carlton was Wayne Johnston he may have only captained for 2 years but he lead every game he played

Bad time for a dovorce and a new family.

Most guys dont get paid that .... he is gunna be a most guys now.....

And still wanna see how much he loves his club ....
He would know where he is at.....

He has already received over a million more than what he would have if not having friends in high places at this club.

how much more???

Thats the reality of footy!!!

Propaganda!!
Nichols and Fitzpatrick were better in my time. Earlier, there have been good judges who talk about the likes of Bob Chitty and Ern Henfry and others.

Look, he's a premiership captain and no doubt a club legend, but this elevation of him to godlike status over the past 20 years or so has contributed to this problem IMNSHO.

After seeing ratts face last night with his head in his hands with no clue, really thought he would resign last night. I always thought he would when we were disgraceful, but guess I was wrong and money wins for him as well.

Ive been saying it for a long time.

Watching footy this closely for me now isnt about results.
Its a study in human behaviour.
We turn to animals..
They turn to Judas'
They run the club into the ground because they have egos.
The panic
The fingerpointing.
The lack of accountablity
etc etc etc
Footy is an emotional game...
Its also the measure in humanity

It can bring out the most selfless and bravest acts.. or the very worst....

and some of those in us...on the sidelines or on the comp.....

Why???

because its all about emotions....

We are a pack of dogs right now......smelling the scent of a fox.

And even among ourselves...

Nothing personal... its just the way the footy monster is !!!

Coaches are a bit like Prime Ministers you have to bring out the baseball bats to move them on

Ratts wasnt a quitter when he played cant see him doing it now but he should
The longer this goes the longer it will take to fix

Ratten quit under Pagan pretty easily cos he didnt rate him as a coach.....

The irony....

Wholeheartedly agree. Can't see either of them moving voluntarily at the minute.

So who is going to make it happen?

Go to The Wookies youtube channel and watch the interview between Kennett and McGuire
Take off your political and footy hats.
And listen to what Jeff says.
You may not like him but as a President he leaves Sticks for dead in so many ways.

That is the sort of person I want to take us into the future.

I want someone who has the ability to look to the future, is intelligent loves the club but doesn't love it so much that in the end he flowers it by staying too long.

Tell me our President has those traits and you believe pigs fly south for the winter.

Take 27 minutes of your day
Watch it and judge it for yourself

I am glad they are sticking fat and giving themselves the opportunity to turn things around. I am all for unity and hard work and never say die attitudes. Noone likes a quitter. As long as if they don't turn it around they clean their office out and say "we had our turn but came up short. time to give someone else a go. I wish them luck.......they will need it"

The new coach better bring a broom though and a good head shrink and some very very thick skin.

Whoa, twice in this thread I've agreed with you. 1. John Nicholls as our greatest leader. 2. A defeat by North being the end for Ratts.........scary stuff .

A pity Bob Menzies is dead as he would have been a great President of CFC.

Not many ex Premier's available to take up the Presidency of a footy club.

I'm curious as to why people think a loss to North will be the last straw -
Is that the point when it becomes mathematically impossible to make the 8?
Or is losing to North *that* bad?

I would have thought getting embarrassed by GWS would be a stinger?

I think a lot will hinge on whether we can pull out wins against Richmond & the Dogs.
A couple of wins will make it hard for Sticks & Swann to sack him
