I hope Cox does play and we do not get sucked in and play Hampson.

What happens if Warnock cops an injury in the first 5 minutes? Who rucks for us? Thornton again?
Hammer should play IMO, even if he's the sub. It also gives Setanta the opportunity to play as a forward. God knows he cant play in the ruck.
Davies is a good kid but he doesn't offer enough yet to keep Hampson out.

That sort of thinking does not win finals.

Put the fittest and hardest out there and let them do battle.

If you are picking teams worried about blokes getting injured in the first five minute you have lost the game already.

Welcome back Synners! :)

I can understand opting against Hampson all things considered as it does leave us a little unbalanced, but against a taller team like West Coast there's an opportunity to exploit their lack of runners and leverage some ruck dominance, particularly with Cox looking likely to miss.

As for injecting a bit of run, Tuohy certainly does that, and it looks like he will be playing further afield as he was in the Saints game and in the VFL last week. He'll do a pretty decent job covering the role GIbbs plays. What disappoints me is that we've not tried to bump this up further by dropping one of Davies or Ellard for Lucas, but I'm yet to see the Bullants match in full. He certainly didn't feature much in the final 15 minutes of it.

If we start the game similar to last week, we will be destroyed shortly after. We have the defensive match ups in place for this, and we have Bower travelling with the squad in case there's an issue. We have a back-up plan if Cox does play.

IMO: Davies to start in defence, Joseph to play through the middle and Ellard to be the sub.

How does the Spirit of Carlton feel about people posting naive and uninformed nonsense under its banner?

It is finals footy.

You said include Hampson as a backup/sub because of possible injury?

That is stupid.

Play your fittest and finest and let them go. Do not plan for failure.

There we go...not having a crack at the selectors this week jim, but couldn't resist nominating Ellard for the sub.

Nah. Joseph on LeCras. Duigan on Nicoski and Davies to miss. Hammer as the sub. Robbo can go back into the midfield rotation.

That is the third incarnation of your original post.

Good to see some things never change, or actually they change a lot, but most do not see the original.

How about you stop editing your posts and type what you really think?

Whats that psychological thinngy when people go to war and see horrific things and then cant sleep at nights...they hear a backfiring car and they freak out??

I think Carlton supporters are abit like this.. after a few years being shit.. we sleep with the light on.

Were playing West Coast.. last years wooden spooners.. and a bunch of talls surrounded by a bunch of slows...

We should account for them ... move onto Geelong ... knock the pensioners off and do what we always do to Collingwood in grand finals.. if theyre lucky enough to be there to meet us.
It might be Sydney for all we know...

Just keep winning...one game at a time.

Seriously.. its been a crap season for the competition and teams look better than what they are.
Essendon* in the finals?

I don't think it's stupid to plan for all possible outcomes and select a versatile lineup which offers multiple options

Jump back on topic please guys.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, argue that opinion if you like, but lets leave it at that.

It's just a shock because the last time I saw you at the post office I was actually going to say something to YOU but I thought perhaps, just perhaps, chivalry might not be quite dead and all...

When the titanic sunk did you ask everyone to go back to discussing the stress testing of iron on water...?
