Hopefully he takes Buttifant with him. I haven't seen a less fit Carlton side.

If our captain and reining B&F showed as much effort as the ruckmen tonight, we'd be in much better shape.

The decision to play Warnock and Wood in the same team shows where Mick is at as a coach.

Is he singularly responsible for that?

Isn't he the chairman of selectors effectively?

Both terrible - couldn't give a toss about Murph's stats - he was nowhere tonight. As for Gibbs - lost little mouse out there tonight. Guy should be played as a permanent forward. Can't see any other role for him.

I have another thread asking these exact questions; how does it actually work?

I honestly think such decisions should have some statistical backing against them. Warnock's VFL performance was average at best in comparison to his own stats data. For the VFL.

Stats and performance data would have shown this.

Cost twice as much and had less recruiting issues than Pago.

He's way worse than Pagan.

Answered this in the post-match thread: West Coast play NicNat and Lycett, but you've got Kennedy up forward and NicNat in that scenario.

Lycett got dropped this week.

Unless you have a significant bow to your game, you can't play two rucks that are the same player. Nic Nat is a freak and is the most mobile ruckman there is, he hasn't been successful with Lycett as a pair.

Take the skirt of Warnock out of the team and u r left with Rowe as backup, without him tonight we would have lost by 130 points minimum.

Rowe was 2014 esque tonight

I think if you have a talented enough pair of ruckman it is possible. Lycett and NicNat is simply the first combination that came to mind. Cox and NicNat was obviously another.

I think you'll find GC will have a decent combo coming through with Peter Wright and their other rucks. Richmond will likely experiment with 2 of Hampson, Maric and Vickery through the season.

They'll be looking for other output from them beyond the ruck role, but they are ruckman first and foremost.

Hawthorn play Ceglar & Hale in the same team sometimes. Hale is quite handy forward.

I don't mind Warnock but if you look at his career, he plays his best football when he rucks one out. A bit like Goldstein at North.

When you play another ruck, well based on history, he struggles.

He plays decent footy, but we struggle as a team whenever he is out on the field. Wins a few taps, hits less of them to decent areas, runs on the spot.

Would have preferred to see Wood lead the ruck division with no recognised ruck at the stoppages when he needed a spell, then just rotate him between FF & the centre bounce until he's ready to go back into midfield again. Rowe could have taken a bounce or five with Hendo in defence until Wood could come back on again.

Tonight we got 80% out of Wood and 72% out of Warnock; we've been consistently getting 78-84% out of Wood which is a good return, so you're looking at about 20 ruck contests, including up to 7 centre square stoppages based on tonights stats (24 goals plus the 4 opening bounces is probably a little behind the average centre stats).

Let's say we have Wood run solo, resting forward a little maximise his centre bounce contribution. You're looking at 70% around the ground, and 90% of centre bounce contests. Let's say it's about 90 ruck contests a game, with 32 centre bounces. So that's about 17 stoppages and 3-4 centre bounces Wood would miss.

Is this going to make or break a football match? It's a disadvantage sure, but what's the disadvantage of Warnock acquiring 8 possessions for a match, with 2 direct turnovers? He had about 3 at half time, when the contest was in full swing.

My suspicion, based on no inside knowledge what-so-ever, is that we probably won't have to push Mick out the door.
He's got the record now - I think it's more likely we would have to woo him to stay on.
