On face value, a great get by the blues.

Has a excellent reputation as a developer and will bring a wealth of knowledge from his stints with our rivals in Collingwood Essendon* and the Dogs.

Interesting that he's 'Senior' assistant coach....hmmmmm

Wonder how long he's been contracted for?

Rumoured 3 year contract Rexy.

This is good. Ratts knows he has to deliver and is not afraid of the challenge. He is a competitor. I am really looking forward to 2011.
A refreshed list and some new ideas in the coaches box.

with you club!

How much input is Richardson going to have with our Development Dept headed by Darren Harris?? As Doc Sherrin alluded to there is a serious amount of information and expertise that Richardson can add to the Development Dept.

Or is Richardson going to soley work in the Coaching Role??

Maggies swoop to lock in backline coach Scott Watters

Chief of football Geoff Walsh confirmed the club intended to talk with Watters and fellow highly rated midfield coach Mark Neeld, as part of its season review. "We will review all that and it is not unusual to talk to them about that (extending their contracts)," Walsh said.

Are you in USA or Australia ?

It's not illegal to drink here at 17.

Would love to get someone from Stkilda or Collingwood- the two best exponents of the frontal zone. Not that our zones need any work.

We were chasing Richo since 2007/08 or so - offered him 450K to cross but Eddie and Malthouse got in his ear and told him it would harm his chances of being a senior coach if he left the filth.

The heat's on Ratts. Time to get out of the bunker and learn to work with yr assistants, not freeze them out and play politics. It's your only chance of making your tenure work.

Ratts would be a fool to play politics as one look at Richo's CV suggests his actual qualifications and experience far exceeds Ratts'.

This is a telling appointment by the club.

I agree. Someone who knows how collingwood do it would be unbelievable.

I know what you're saying... but shouldn't anyone earning a salary as a coach be able to figure out how Collingwood does it, just by watching them do it?

The thought of watching anyone from Collingwood doing it is vomiting inducing.

If they knew how Collingwood were doing it, you would think they would try and get their own team to replicate it. To get Collingwood's IP you need to get someone from within, not someone analysing from outside. The IP a Collingwood person would bring would probably be more important than the person himself.

Knowing how Collingwood do it is a bit different to the players understanding and implementing it themselves
