Generally Plough not agreeing is a good thing.

Unless they are ready to go, we will have to wait for them to develop and if we are hoping to win one with Judd we don't have long.

I’m of the view that by the time we are ready to contend, it won’t be with Judd. Therefore let’s take a longer term view and start developing our own.

Anyone listening to trade week radio at the moment? They are talking about Paul Chapman playing a FF role at Carlton, sort of like Brad Johnston did at the Dogs. Interesting concept, I would prefer 2 talls but what do people think?

Which Collingwood officials? Greg Swann? Buttifant?

Oh, wait...

When was the last time that you heard a rumour that player x had 'fallen out with the coach' and wanted a trade and it was true?
Besides, where is Walks? He's on holiday, isn't he? Have they had a falling out since the last time they saw each other - which I guess was last week? Did they have a falling out earlier in the year, but no-one knew of it until 2/3rds through the trade period, when, incidentally, any Muppet can go on Radio and reveal what he (for it is always he) has heard from a 'source'?

The Northern Bullants would be rapt with that trade.

The kinds of things Murphy and co don't have.
Footy is also about what's going on between the ears

Isn't that why we traded away the world for Judd? how has that worked.

Hang on.

You are clearly a troll or one of MM's kids.

You say the club is holding MM back with it's trades and structure and we are basically doomed because Mick has no clay to work with. Ok, that's fine, that's an opinion many hold.

But then you say " we should have tanked and swapped Yazz and Pick 6 for Boyd"

Sorry, but who was in the coaches box? Mick flower Malthouse that's who. Was he being forced to win games????? YES

You go on to say that getting Daisy is a risk and letting Betts go is a mistake. HELLO!!!! Daisy is here because MM want's him. Betts is gone because we are not prepared to pay the ridiculous money that Adelaide is.

Listen, if you want to have fun as a troll OR you are Christie you still need to get your story straight.

The coach isn't employed to get the signatures of opposition players. Thats the role of the footy director and CEO in our case.

but funny how the only player we've managed to get to the club is via Mick and his relationship with the player. So it seems like others around aren't getting the job done.

So Mick is forced into winning games.

Poor baby.

So was Thomas a good idea or a bad one? Did we pay too much?

What about Betts? Should we have matched the Crows bid?

Maybe Walker found out he was put forward for Pick 2. Then had a falling out with Malthouse.

I doubt this rumour is true though. If it is not true DOA will set us straight soon enough.

Carlton have used social media to deny Walker is leaving.

Mentoring our players?
When did Chapman suddenly become Iron man? Its funny that the same posters complaining that Eddie, Yazz and Jeffrey cant play midfield are the same ones wanting to get a 32 year old half forward with dodgy hammys who's past it as a midfield option.

Lets be real here. Murphy averages more contested possessions, more tackles and more 1% ers than Chapman. Yet some of Murphys biggest critics are wanting to get Chappy.
Geelong aren't flicking him for fun. They understand he's taking the place of a young player. FFS, I'm sure some of you trawl around peoples nature strips looking through their hard rubbish.

Maybe they are getting rid of him because he is keeping out younger players who are ready to step up. This just shows how well the cats are developing their list. We are not in the same category.

You're not wrong there. We're not in the same category by choice

padre wrote:
We need leadership and hardness, geelong have buckets of it. We dont yet have young guys crying out to step up. I am all in favour if he rounds off our list for 1-2 seasons while others are developing.

Hardness?
We average more contested possessions, contested marks, one percenters than Geelong and we smash them in clearances. Its our uncontested possessions that kill us.
Now that is where Chapman specialises. The trouble is, its our gamestyle that doesnt endear itself to uncontested possessions. Bringing in a 32 year old wont change that. As for not having young guys crying to step up, bringing in old blokes to take their place on the list doesnt help. Use that spot on a young draftee.
Graham was killing it in the VFL this season and should have received more games. He shouldnt have to battle a Paul Chapman for a spot in the side. The young bloke should always get preference if he's showing enough.

That where you dont get it. Just because we have a chapman in the squad it doesnt necessarily mean that he will be selected. I would say that mm would play an up and comer if he is showing enough, by that i mean demanding a game. I dont think he will get a game unless he has reached a standard though. I think some of you have ocd when it comes to young players, yes you need plenty of them coming through, but you also need a blend of older, to put pressure on that spot. If he doesnt take a draft pick and is reasonable money it should be a reasonable deal. Say what you like , quote stats like ratten if you like, but chapman is much harder at the ball than our betts, garlett, yarren, he has the body with a low centre of gravity, that is plain hard to shift.

That's where I sit on the Chappy possibility.
Short term upgrade in the forwardline and has a lot of mentoring to share with the kids.
