Got a freebet as it happens. Might have a go at that.

THE AFL Coaches Association has all but ruled out early favourite John Worsfold from the Carlton coaching race.

Carlton yesterday declared it would look far and wide for Mick Malthouse’s replacement, holding an extensive search for the first time in its 150-year history.

The Blues will soon announce a subcommittee to begin the search, promising they had no preordained ideas on their next senior coach.

Premiership coach and former Blues assistant Worsfold has been linked to the job ahead of leading Sydney assistant Stuart Dew.

But AFLCA chief executive Mark Brayshaw told the Herald Sun “almost certainly” the AFLCA chairman Worsfold would not put his hand up for the role.

A development coach such as McConnell or McCartney would be good as well. Very handy when youre rebuilding

Far and wide is probably a board lunch at the Flower Drum then on to the Tattersalls club for an aperitif then back up Collins St to the Atheneum club for cigars and port.........then appoint Worsfold! It's the Carlton way!

Put your money on Worsfold and expect no return.

JOHN Worsfold has ruled out an immediate return to coaching and will tell Carlton to look elsewhere in its search to replace Mick Malthouse.

Worsfold, who coached West Coast to a premiership in 2006, had been linked to the Carlton position in the build-up to Tuesday's dramatic sacking of Malthouse and was installed as an early favourite by some betting agencies.

However, the 46-year-old was quick to rule himself out of the running when speaking to Perth's Channel Seven on Tuesday night.

"I will be telling Carlton they should look to progress with looking for a coach without adding me to the list," he said.

Worsfold has done his job. Made the board jumpy and cost Mick his place. Payback.

Are we enough of a rabble yet that the AFL will intervene and select our coach for us?

I really hope that Kirk gets an interview. That rumour some pages back got me thinking. I reckon he would be a very strong coach and exactly what we need at the moment. Just an opinion.

Good news. He doesn't have the passion.

Kirk would be a good choice. Does he have the experience though? Maybe not ready yet.

Interesting to note the discrepancies in markets between Sportsbets and our sponsor William Hill in regards to next year's coach...
