Not sure anyone is impressed by most of our recruiting unfortunately.

But ... take the Crisps & Menzel pick for example.

He was coming off a broken leg, no fitness base, but has a repuatation as a ball extractor, oh look he's the same height as Jobe, lets get him and start the comparisons before he's played an AFL game.

... and you're average carlton fan is immediately impressed.

on look, lets get Menzel, he's brother would be a gun if he's knees weren't in a constant state of being disabled. His little brother must be GOOD!

imo that's the kinda prevailing mindset from our scouts and recruiters.

Menzel has show glimses of exquisite skill and Crips has the fundemtals to be a solid citizen in clearances at the least. Sure they have difficencies at this stage of development.
They will be an asset to the Baggers and play quality football.
Both still very young with plenty of hard work ahead of them but the class is there.
Let's not get to critical too early some of crap been spread is ridiculous.
Ciao

Menzel was always touted as being better than his brother. Wells would take him pick 1 if he could.
You can't discredit the form Menzel showed in the u18 comp & at senior sanfl level before injuries.

Which shows even more the post a couple of posts up is wrong about us taking Menz simply because his brother is good.

I've been told ML asked Mrs Pratt to step down as he feels there are too many numbers at board level.
Mrs Pratt has refused. The Oligarchs reign supreme.

then Id politely tell her and her money to get out.

if they want to donate to the club, great, but don't donate with strings.

same goes for any of our "benefactors" the club needs to stand on its own right, with no strings, and make the best decisions for what is best for the club, not appease those that put in the most.

if we cant stand on our own two legs and fold, then so be it ...

Maybe she's not the problem.
Maybe she thinks it is important for her to stay on to keep the bastards honest.

IMO Kernahan, Elliot and even Parkin led us to no mans land since 1996. Since then we have become StKilda as the leaders sold the farm.

But then the others there would be saying the same thing, wouldn't they? That's a circular argument which will go round in ever decreasing circles until the whole club disappears up it's own fundamental orifice.

So who are the bastards who need to be kept honest? In reality, probably the whole damn lot of them.

What's her position on the board? What does she do? What's she brought to the board and club (aside from $$)? What are her list of measured achievements since being on the board?

pratt should leave the board....
germinder represents visy interests..
..why does visy get 2 board seats for putting in $900,000 per year (see last years annual report)
this is less than mathiesons who get 1 board seat
we need more companies to put more money in the club and not one company should have more than 1 board seat...

Might even toy with the idea of not having board membership tied to sponsorship.

Crazy talk I know.

i agree with you as i have been banging on about constitutional reform for years.
that said , i am a realist and unless 1 person does a maguire and destroys the factions and takes over the club and make the massive long term changes including constitutional reform, we have to work with what we have at present...

Wasn't she 'looking after' membership a while ago? That's gone well.

If she wants to continue the Visy sponsorship, great. But it might be time to give someone else a voice at board level. Like most if not all incumbents, she's failed.
