I sincerely hope he stays.
I don't know if there are still issues with his fitness etc but I hope there is.
I also hope that MM isn't being a little inflexible by not trying to find a spot for him.
You're implying there is a position for Laidler but MM isn't flexible. Sounds like its the other way around.
I can't believe Laids has fallen off the radar. I've missed his brilliant intercepts.
It's hard to stomach isn't it?
Word around here is that he's lost a yard of pace since hurting his knee. Even so, he was never a particularly fast player. That never seemed to matter in 2011. His footy brain was so adept he had the uncanny ability to be where the ball would be, intercepting everything that came his way.
It's a shame. He was one of my favourite players, the kind of defender who would never had you holding your breathe when the ball was in his vicinity. Those sorts of defenders are in short supply on our list.
But I'm sure the coaching staff know what they're doing. It pains me to say this, but if he really is shot it's essential he doesn't play down back for the NBs, let alone the seniors, for the remainder of 2013. We need to keep the Laidler card close to our chests for trade week.
Professional footy ball is a cruel business.
