While we're at it can we bring back SteveB and his hilarious trade scenarios from the old official CFC forum.

That place was hilarious. You'd post....wait two days for it to be moderated...then if cleared would be added to the thread! :donk:

Anyway agree with Syndad on the smalls. Play to your strengths. Let them worry about us.

Well, we weren't even trying.™

Anyway, looks like West Coast will go to any lengths to ease the pressure going as far as arranging Mark Harvey to get sacked.

I don't think natanui/cox will be the difference.

Colinngwood don't even have a ruckman and stkilda beat them with mcevoy.

what everyone else does is the crux imo

This is at Subi and Nic Nat play's very confidently there.

And what does he do exactly?
Wayne Carey aerial domination?
Alex Jesaulenko 7 goal finals games?
Greg Williams 50 killer possesion games?

Oh yeah the odd tap to a man.. a great mark every 12 weeks.
The odd run

Look his main weapon is his attack on the ball.... but he doesnt need to be 6 ft 6 to do that .
He isnt a superstar yet!
He is NOT tearing games up and just annihalating oppositions.

He does the odd freaky thing and he applies pressure.

I think people are being caught up by 360 or whatever its called.

Hes ok with some amazing physical ability.
Not really a dominant footballer yet.

Its laughable how people get caught up in the hype.
Once the game starts hes just another player out there who does some amzing things and buggers up some basic stuff... but really doesnt grab the games by the scruff of the neck to often does he??

I think what we love about Nic NAt is what he can do rather than what he does on a consistant basis

not sure what hampson will offer on a big ground.
have to go the percentages. hampson has missed quite a bit of footy and has only played two good games in his five years at the club.
I don't think it's his time yet in this game.
tallis aren't going to be as productive as a swarm of hard workings runners.
we need to keep our edge over them with our advantage.

why shift it their way by reacting to them?
let them drop a tall to match our advantage.
why not?
logic says big ground you need dynamic movement on the ground.

Agrees...let them react to us. Old be thinking "too tall" if I was a WCE supporter.
BTW welcome back Synbad...still not sure about that avatar....freaky!

Blues speed vs Eagles height

Speed is always there - height / marking power doesn't always eventuate.

Eagles' tall forwards didn't do the job last week and Blues pace tore Essendon* apart

- Barney must have heard of Synbad's comeback tour

Threat of rain...
Yeah id like to go tall.... lol

Actually if it rains theyre [REDACTED].
The only thing that can hold us back is if were not mentally switched on.
We need to forget about last week and attack this game with everything we have.
Mind you if we win like im expecting...Geelong would be looking vulnerable on the G too....

Lets think a flag...

I dont think this has been a season where anyone is particularly standing head and shoulders above all others.
Its anyones in my book!

maybe the addition of Hammer could be seen as proactive in that it may require NicNat to be more accountable and take away some of his attacking mindset ?

would Hammer provide more impact and require greater attention than say Davies ? I reckon he would

Make no mistake people this is a big game for us, forget about last week. We have been in this position - final interstate - before and have failed twice. As much as I like Ratten, I still get the feeling this is the one he has to win to make the AFL world accept him and more importantly CFC as a geniune challenger.
As for the height vs run debate, both have merit. Height becomes important as the game goes on and runners get tired, but having said that, the eagles have picked a big side but it's worked for them all year.
Interesting Saturday coming up.

its a big ground.
run and pressure is what we need to do.
they win if it's static game.
we cant afford to be on the back foot and have them dictate the tone of the game.
we must use the open spaces to our advantage.
big ground suits us.
we have a ripper record there and we are well supported.

interestingly their greatest strength should be their achilles heal.
too tall for the big game and lacking pace.

just do the basics and we win.

run hard ,spread well and pressure them.
oh and must convert our opportunities.
take some controlled risks and keep our heads.

its finals .

I think we should have them!

oh and thanks for the greetings I'm wiping a tear off the cheek as I'm typing this.

:p

yeah, he is back. What a great week its been . :smoking:

This is the reason I have been so perplexed by the Hampson soggy biscuits this week.

He had a couple of good weeks, before a long term injury.

He has been away for a long time from senior football.

He was not that great even before he got injured.

Yet we have Warnock who is fit, match hardened and in form who will ruck 80% of the game.

We have Setanta who is fit, match hardened and in form and working well as a forward and will pinch hit in the ruck.

We want to bring in someone who might be fit, might not be match hardened, might not be in AFL form, cannot kick goals when that will be his number one job and will just pinch hit in the ruck.

Does not make sense to include Hampson.

Put our best players on the park against their best players and see how we go.

Davies is a negative stock.
He isnt there to be attended to but to attend to someone in the opposition.

You have to compare apples with apples not pineapples.

They have their X factor players and Y factor players and so do we.

Im unsure what kind of game Hammer is meant to play in his first game in 8 odd weeks and be a success.

Maybe just a structure player in the forward line?.... but then he really would have to take some marks and kick a couple of goals.

They have one genuine A grader in my opinion.
Thats Cox
And there is a cloud over him with a back and an ankle.. hardly the kind of preparation for a ruckman in the final.
Sure they can pump him up with painkillers.. but really youd think he shouldnt play his best game of his career.
Their defence is abit on the slow side.. and overall the personel flavour is slightly Jurasic parkish ... all those big tall players trying to mark one pill...its kind of weird... its worked for them thus far...but it only takes abit of imagination to knock that gameplan over..
And thats not by us throwing more talls onto the ground....
Talls have worked for them this year.
Speed has worked for us.
Lets back what we have against what they have...cos if you begin to go against the formula youre shouting for a catstrophe.
We do what we do best and in my opinion the battlefield suits us not them

Miss me Surrey???:)

Davies is not in our best players. Hampson could bring something ie the X factor.
