Beyond the jokes I'm happy Warnock has finished up. Really happy. A decision seemingly made in desperation but when we actuallyhad some young rucks on the list.

He wasn't very good at Freo yet we paid through the nose, all because of '206'. Poor mark. Worse than average kick. Just a poor choice.

Happy we're moving on.

Our first draft picks from the 2008/9/10/11/12 drafts are no longer on our list. Easy to see why our list is so poor. Surely we are overdue to nail the draft.

we need to nail picks, 8, 11 and 19.
Weitering is a lock, CHB for the next 10 plus years.
hope we can land Francis, can play multi positions.
McKay could help out of average forward line.
I understand why we may look at Wright from Adelaide.
few more lean years yet but, we are finally heading in the right direction.
now bring on the draft..

This is the crux of it and others have also brought it up.
We can complain about the coach, board and the money and the facilities and the debt and the draw and the long-ago fines and draft penalties but had we nailed the drafts and had we accepted the system earlier, we would not be where we are now.
On field success brings sponsors, money, membership, more money, better facilities, more members, free agency players want to come to us, and so on.
It's all about getting the list right first.
Then the coach although that is a chicken and egg thing. The rest will surely follow.

I am seriously hoping we get this one right for starters and that BB can give them a game plan they can manage but will evolve in its complexity or simplicity as needs be as the list gets better and they can do more of the things he wants them to do. My preference is that in five or six years we are top four and BB is still the coach. We need some continuity. If he leaves because we don't win the premiership next year or the players revolt or whatever, we go back to the beginning again.

Hey Blue S, I'd suggest Board and then coach are directly connected to nailing drafts (or in our case, not nailing them).

After signing Gorringe, that leaves room for picks 1, 8, 11, 19, SOSOS and how many others?

Up to two more, but they come at the expense of 2 Category A rookie spots (we currently have 3 free).

We've signed Gorringe?

Hey Blue S, I'd suggest Board and then coach are directly connected to nailing drafts (or in our case, not nailing them).

Only if the coach is responsible. we have had so many changes of coach in the last ten years that there has been no continuity in the gameplan or selection policy from the coach's perspective.
The board is probably not too involved in draft selections. If it is, it explains why we can't do it.

I want a coach who stays long enough to affect the culture, the on field performance and the pride we need to restore in the club. You and I know what it is like but my mate, Blue Beatle's son hasn't seen a premiership in his lifetime and he sat in the 95 cup as a newborn. We've got a generation of fllowers who only know failure and financial hardship. It will take a lot for some of them to fork out their hard-earned on memberships.

Winning is everything.

Interesting to see Holman is back training at PP. I would be happy to see him rookie-ed.

I have a really good feeling about this draft.

I would be rapt to get a:

KPD will be Weitering
KPF like Weideman pick 8
KPD like Collins pick 11
Quality Midfielder at pick 19

Those to join Phillips Plowman Kerridge and last years crop of Cripps Jaksch and Boekhurst.

Within 2 years we may have got our spine sorted.

B: XX Collins XX
HB: XX Weitering XX
M: Phillips Cripps Boekhurst Pick 19
HF: XX Weideman XX
F: XX Jaksch XX

Next year go for a couple of great mids with first 2 picks.
Bolton knows he can get the list right pretty quickly, its just the developing which will take a while...depending on the character and quality of the recruits of course.

Collins and Weitering continuing their careers playing together for us would be a bonus for both parties.

Weitering is a lock in.
We go for Francis if aval or Burton at 8?
Collins is touted to go 12+ so we could grab him at the front end of that with 11 if he's around
19 one of may mids. I like the Tassie boy, Hibberd

We are duty bound to pick or make a bid for one or more of the academy kids when our turn comes. If we don't, the AFL will look at us and others severely. That is the way tthe system was designed so we bid for one and he is selected by Sydney. We bid for another and he is selected by Sydney and so on until we get a non-academy kid to pick from. #8 will really be about #11 and #11 will be about #15.
It'll make for interesting ciewing. I might even stay up and watch it if it's streamed.
