Guaranteed either Gibbs or Murphy will be gone end of the year.
Prob Gibbs, although his long term contract would scare off a few clubs.
Imagine getting rid of both ? Could that happen ?
Id also look at trading Walks if we can get a 2nd rounder.
Id keep Yazz, Kreuzer and Hendo.

Murphy has a knee issue which most clubs know about.

Is he also much older than we think?

No, just what I see as logic.

Gibbs and Murphy are the only two who will get us anything decent in terms of trades (1st round picks or young guns).
Walks would do well in a team pushing for a flag. A Dal Santo type deal will be good for both parties.

2015 - We ll finish bottom 3-4 this year. That's two picks inside top 21 at least. Add 1st round pick for Gibbs/Murphy + hopefully early/mid 2nd Rounder for Walks, and that would make 4 picks in top 30ish.

2016 - Finish Bottom 3-4 + trading Gibbs/Murphy = again 3 picks inside top 20ish.

That'd made a total of 7 picks inside the top 30 over two seasons.
Hello Rebuild.. SOS and his merry men would be rubbing his hands at that prospect.

Wont be letting go Hendo as he's our best KPP.
Wont be letting go Kreuz as when fit, he's by far our best Ruck.
Yazz is still young enough to still be here when we re decent again.
Cripps looks a beauty, but early days.
Clem looks like he'll be damaging when he turns his bulk into solid muscle.
Not sold on BB and Whiley.
Would keep Judd and Simmo one more year as they re attitudes will help development of the kids.

Lol. Early 2nd rounder for Walker? Comparisons with Dal Santo? ROFLMAO.

Check out Dal Santo's career and compare it with Walker's. As much as I love him, he comes nowhere near Dal with output over the past decade.

The club needs to recruit a big fish via FA to keep casual fan interest up.

But of course it must also find a way to secureat least 5 picks in the top 30 of the draft.

Why do we need to throw 7 figures at Dangerfield (or next best...of which inspires very little interest)?

Sort of decision that got us into this mess in the first place. Messiah complex.

If we're to trade into the draft, we'll have to move on some highly paid players.
With Judd and Carrots and maybe a few other oldies likely moving on we need to pay someone. That's the rules.

No FA will come to Carlton unless it's a deal that is well and truly overs.

Paying over the odds for a FA stuffs your salary cap and it impacts on your ability to list manage.

Trade Murphy/Gibbs, pay their salary in return for a better deal. Still counts toward our TPP.

I thought salary cap rules had changed. For instance, I was under the impression if you didn't pay 100% this year, you could go over the threshold by that amount next year or even the following year. Can anyone confirm?

I'd be happy to throw a bucket of money to a FA who has a consistently good work ethic and decent output.

Think Aish will go to Coll rather than us, which is a good thing. I want to build in the draft.

It depends what Coll give up for him. If it's a second rounder or late first rounder we have missed out and should be disappointed.

Doesn't seem consistent character traits. Consistently good work ethic but happy to chase the coin?
